A Young Person's Guide To King Crimson

  King Crimson's Best Work

When I first picked this cassette up, I was amazed at how much outstanding material was on it! I only wish that the record company would release this particular album on remastered cd! Contained within this masterpiece are: "Epitaph," "I Talk To The Wind," "Moonchild" and "The Court Of The Crimson King" from In The Court Of The Crimson King, "Cadence And Cascade," "Peace: A Theme" and "Cat Food" from In The Wake Of Poseidon, "Ladies Of The Road" from Islands, "Book Of Saturday" and "Coda From Larks' Tongues In Aspic Part One" from Larks' Tongues In Aspic, "The Night Watch" and "Trio" from Starless & Bible Black. Also, it contains the single, "Groon" and "Red" and "Starless" from Red! An outstanding compilation!

The Compact King Crimson

  ANOTHER GREAT COMPILATION

Taking the best selections of songs from King Crimson's early modern period albums and from In The Court Of The Crimson King, this is another one of King Crimson's masterpieces! "Discipline," "Thela Hun Ginjeet," "Matte Kudasai," "Frame By Frame" and "Elephant Talk" hail from Discipline. "Three Of A Perfect Pair" and "Sleepless" hail from Three Of A Perfect Pair. "Heartbeat" comes from Beat and "21st Century Schizoid Man," "I Talk To The Wind," "Epitaph," Including: (MARCH FOR NO REASON AND TOMORROW AND TOMORROW) and "In The Court Of The Crimson King" (including: THE RETURN OF THE FIREWITCH AND THE DANCE OF THE PUPPETS) are from Court! Each of these pieces represent King Crimson at it's most minimal and it's most majestic! Each work is finely crafted like a piece of fine gold!

Frame By Frame: The Essential King Crimson

Many critics consider this King Crimson's best work! True, it contains a large amount of great music, but it also contains an extraordinary amount of noise! There are three reasons that I do not give this collection the coveted 5 star designation: 1. The inclusion of Fracture from Starless And Bible Black, instead of the far superior "Trio" from the same album! 2. The shortened version of "Starless," from Red, the 12 minute version is much better! 3. The exclusion of "Exiles" from Larks' Tongues In Aspic! Other than these three exclusions, Frame By Frame is still a great cd compilation! I only wish that the lyrics had been included in the booklet, also! The great parts about this compilation, include the inclusion of: In The Court Of The Crimson King(in its entirety), the better parts of Discipline and Poseidon.

The Great Deceiver (Live 1973-1974)

The Concise King Crimson

KING CRIMSON'S BEST STUDIO COMPILATION ON CD

Another fantastic cd compilation which has superior sound, The Concise King Crimson is a combination of Compact and A Young Person's Guide. It contains: "21st Century Schizoid Man" and "Epitaph" from Court and also an abridged version of "In The Court Of The Crimson King." "Cat Food" from Poseidon, "Ladies Of The Road" from Islands, "Red" and "Fallen Angel" from Red and also an abridged version of "Starless." Additionally, "Elephant Talk," "Frame By Frame" and "Matte Kudasai" from Discipline, "Hearbeat" from Beat and "Three Of A Perfect Pair" and "Sleepless" from Three Of A Perfect Pair. An absolutely delightful collection!

The Abbreviated King Crimson: Heartbeat

The Night Watch

Encompassing the period between the release of Larks' Tongues and Starless, this live album represents an awesome experience. Included in this live compilation are: "Trio" and "The Night Watch", "Book Of Saturday" and "Exiles". A magnificent live version of the songs found on A Young Person's Guide.
