Behold, another golden live recording from Rush. I was hoping that Exit... Stage Left would finally have a recording that competed with it on it's level. To a certain extent, this is absolutely true with this 3 disc live recording, two of which are from the 1994 Counterparts and 1997 Test For Echo tours, of which the first disc includes an enhanced cd. The third disc is from a live recording from London's Hammersmith Odeon circa February, 1978 during the A Farewell To Kings tour. This particular recording is meant to be heard without headphones. In fact, the best way to listen to this new recording is to be played loudly with a good set of speakers! Highlights include: a remarkable new version of "2112," which bests the original studio version, another version of the epic "Xanadu," recorded from the 1978 Hammersmith Odeon concert, "Natural Science," "Bravado," "Dreamline," "Roll The Bones" and "Cygnus X-1." I still prefer the Exit... Stage Left versions of "The Trees," "Xanadu," "Tom Sawyer," "Closer To The Heart," "YYZ" and "The Spirit Of Radio." However, "Stick It Out" is a major improvement over the studio version! "Cinderella Man," "A Farewell To Kings," "Something For Nothing," "Bytor & The Snow Dog" and "Working Man" have greatly improved over the studio versions also. Altogether, another classic live album by a group who should be deemed "art rock's" greatest ambassadors. One more important, but very sad note: This recording is dedicated to Neil Peart's daughter and wife, both of whom passed away during the past year.
