Roger Waters' Era

Animals · The Wall · The Final Cut

Animals    (1977)

Animals is probably Pink Floyd's most coherent concept album! Dealing with an "Orwellian" allegory, derived from "Animal Farm," Animals describes the three different classes of people: "Dogs," "Pigs" and "Sheep!" "Dogs" is an outstandingly cynical song about the individuals in the society who will do anything to get to the top, "Pigs" is about those who make the decisions and "Sheep" is about the rest of the individuals who just do everything that they are told, mindlessly!

The Wall    (1979)

A double concept album about a fictional character named "Pink," who goes through life constructing walls around his feelings, this is Pink Floyd's last great concept album! Unfortunately, this album is just a bit too long and ponderous! Many of the songs are magnificent: especially, "The Trial," "Hey You" and "Comfortably Numb!" However, the rest of the songs are just too similar!

The Final Cut

The best songs on this album are: "The Fletcher Memorial Home" and "The Gunner's Dream."
