LONDON (Reuters) - Liam Gallagher of the British pop group Oasis, notorious for his wild antics and indulgence in drugs, says he has given up the fast life to settle down and have kids.
In an interview with GQ magazine, Gallagher, who was cautioned by police last January for possession of cocaine, says he is bored with drugs and prefers a quiet evening in with his wife, actress Patsy Kensit.
"Now I've got Pats, I am happiest with her. It makes me grow up," he told the magazine, which released the article ahead of publication Friday.
Gallagher said he was ready to trade rowdy nights out for a quieter life as a father: "I could go out tomorrow, but it'd just be doing the same things -- snorting lines (of cocaine) in bogs (toilets). That's not for me."
Insisting he was ready for children, Gallagher said: "I'll 'ave a bash, I'll 'ave a bang, I'm the right age, 25, gotta house, still in a job."
Gallagher also said he planned to buy an Alsatian dog, to be named "Hendrix" after the late rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix, and to spend more time at the country mansion he is renovating.
However, Gallagher's fiery spirit, evident in spectacular expletive-ridden outbursts on radio, apparently has not been entirely doused.
At one point in the interview, Gallagher jumped onto a pub table to rant against former Beatles George Harrison and Paul McCartney for having criticized Oasis. "My name is disturbance," he shouted.
Liam's brother Noel, the band's principal songwriter, sparked expressions of outrage from public officials last year when he said taking drugs was as normal as having a cup of tea.
Oasis is due to depart Britain Friday for a 17-date U.S. tour. The band's latest single, "All Around the World," will be released in Britain Monday.
