An Oasis' spokesman has attacked fans who he says endangered the band by training laser pointers on their faces during shows on their recent tour. One of the people responsible allegedly telephoned a national newspaper to apologise. "No one's apologised to us," the spokesman said. "People were acting really irresponsibly. They can damage eyes. The group were pissed off because it could have blinded them and because those people doing it were spoiling the enjoyment of the other fans who'd paid good money."
He said that despite the laser pointers being used at almost every gig, nobody was ejected from any of the shows. "It'd be like finding a needle in a haystack. They made announcements before the shows warning that the group would walk off stage if laser pointers were used. In the end, they stopped one of the Earl's Court shows and Liam delivered a fine rant."
The spokesman said that to the best of his knowledge none of the band were given medical treatment after the shows. Conal Dodds of promoters SJM confirmed the biggest problem was at Earl's Court "One fan had a laser pointer confiscated by the band's security. The fan was on the front barrier. We took it off him but he wasn't thrown out."
