Noel Letter For Sale

Noel Letter For Sale

A handwritten letter by then Inspiral Carpets' roadie Noel Gallagher sent to a fan has gone up for bid over the internet. Noel scripted this most bizarre of auction items, accessible here, in 1992, in response to a fan who'd written a letter inquiring about future Inspiral Carpets dates in the US. Bidding began at $100, and ended at $202.50. In the sloppily penned, mostly unremarkable note, Gallagher refers to Inspiral's hometown Manchester as "The capital of Europe," and questions of the inquirer, known only as Johnny: "Do you play guitar? You should!" If the near-failure of rare Oasis tapes to sell at a recent London auction (the tapes went 11th hour, far below the asking price) is any indication of the Gallagher brothers' auction block potency, this little glimpse into Noel's humble past might stay well within the average collector's reach.
