The awards announcement, made on Tuesday (Jan. 6), also reveals that Radiohead follows closely with five noms, while Prodigy, Blur, and the Charlatans have four nominations each. All six bands heading up the pack have been nominated for Best Band and Best Album. Winners will be announced on Jan. 27 at a ceremony to be held at London Brixton Academy, which will also be televised on Channel 4 in the U.K. and broadcast live on Radio 1.
In related news, Stereophonics, Asian Dub Foundation, Warm Jets and Theaudience are confirmed for the NME Miller Genuine Draft Awards Tour. This annual showcase of new British bands, also known as the Brat Bus Tour, will hit 10 venues in the U.K. in January.
