ROYALS SHOULD ALL BE SHOT

Buckingham Palace was in an uproar last night after Oasis star Noel Gallagher said members of the royal family should be shot.

The shaggy-haired rocker compounded the rude remark by saying he'd like to give Queen Elizabeth a swift kick in the behind.

His shocking outburst came during a live interview on Italian radio in Milan late last week.

Gallagher, 30, went ballistic when disc-jockey Ringo Anaclerio brought up the British monarchy.

"I don't like the queen. I don't believe in the monarchy or the royal family," he snarled.

"I don't believe that the working people of England should have to pay their wages and pay the rent on their houses and pay for their kiddies to be brought up either.

"I think they should all be shot."

Asked what he would want to give the queen for Christmas, Gallagher quipped:

"A kick up the ass!"

When the surprised DJ scolded the rocker, reminding him it was the holiday season and a time of peace, Gallagher said:

"Oh, all right, I'll just give her a slap in the face."

A source at Buckingham Palace called the remarks "outrageous."

"To make remarks like those, even in jest, is in terribly poor taste. Mr. Gallagher should apologize. If he has class, any at all, he will."

Gallagher's big mouth has gotten him in trouble many times before. He has made controversial quips about drugs and religion and once boasted how he carried out thefts as a raucous teen.

The royal family insults put British Prime Minister Tony Blair in an awkward position because he and Gallagher are friends and often socialize together.

When Gallagher was asked what gift he would give Blair for the holidays, he replied:

"I'd give him a big kiss."

Despite Gallagher's reputation as a rock bully, Oasis - which has had top hits with "Wonderwall" and "Do You Know What I Mean?" - remains at the top of the world pop charts. 1
