Band info
Starting in late 1991, keyboardist Eyajo Joseph and vocalist/guitarist Daniel Ian created Astro Vamps as a media for their shared taste on the darker side of the musical spectrum. Astro Vamps quickly generated a local cult following. Within just a few months, the group released its first full-length album "Savage Garden". 14 songs that were as different as the band itself. By the next six months, the group had an established fan base that stretched to Mexico, Japan, the Soviet Union, and the United Kingdom! Having used additional studio and temporary musicians, the Astro Vamps decided to add a full time bass player and drummer. Vincent DePriest (bass guitar) and Toe Knee (drummer) joined the lineup in 1992. The group's second release was "Blood and Flowers" released in 1993. It was the first with a complete lineup and featured a much more mature sound for the group. The Astro Vamps concentrated on playing live for the next year and a half and opened up for acts like Goth legends Christian Death and Dave Vanian (The Damned), as well as playing a small north American tour. 1995 was the release of the Astro Vamps self titled cd. It is the bands best work to date and is creating some great possibilities for this young group, the Astro Vamps are currently planning their mid summer tour across the western and central United States with a complete U.S. and European tour for the fall/winter.
