Eheads Fans, Show Producers/Promoters & Friends There have been rumors (once again!) spreading across the Philippines, especially in the provinces outside of Metro Manila (& also on the Internet!) that the band, ERASERHEADS has broken up…Well, it's definitely NOT TRUE!!! It is known that E-heads drummer, Raimund Marasigan has another band called "Sandwich" and that Eheads lead vocalist, Ely Buendia has recently released his solo project called "Wanted: Bedspacer", BUT along with bassist Buddy Zabala & guitarist, Marcus Adoro, they are still pretty much intact as the "ERASERHEADS." In fact, the ERASERHEADS are currently on the final stages of recording their next album tentatively called, "8 Down, 2 To Go!". The new album will consist of about 16 songs & is slated for a January 2001 release…a good way to start the new year! So there you go. Let there be no panic & confusion amongst us! Eheads now recording for 8th album

"8 Down 2 To Go" is the working title of the Eraserheads coming album. The guys are now in the studios recording songs for their 8th full-length album under BMG records, where they have signed a 10-album contract. The album is scheduled to be released in January 2001. Ely Buendia, sexy?

ELY lands in Cosmo Poll's No. 2 Spot
The voting has ended. Based on the latest stats, Ely Buendia ranks no. 2 in Cosmopolitan Philippines' Search for World's Sexiest Men, garnering 17429 votes. Topping the list is Piolo Pascual with 23,325 votes. Following Ely is Sandwich vocalist Mark Abaya with 17120 votes. It is interesting to note that Ely is one of those who got the most number of clicks from the male voters. He got 1008 votes from the male population. On the other hand, 16421 females votes went to him. Joining Piolo, Ely and Mark in the Top Ten are Ethan Hawke, Scott Speedman, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ryan Agoncillo, Joshua Jackson, Rupert Everett and Ronan Keating. Results of this poll will be formally announced in Cosmopolitan Philippines' September issue. Congratulations Ely! He sure is sexy isn't he? (hehe...walang kokontra, please!) Ely: An Outstanding Composer!
As a year- ender, the Philippine Daily Inquirer came up with a list of Most Outstanding Filipino Composers of all time. And guess what? Eraserheads vocalist Ely Buendia is one of them! It's one great honor for our favorite! According to the article written by Mary Ann Bautista, one of PDI's primary considerations was recall, or the ability of the composers' songs to stay in the listeners' memory. "With the surge of new compositions everyday, it's difficult to come up with a hit song which can become a ''classic.'' We also considered the consistency and significance of the works as well as the significant impact on the listening public, " she wrote. And here's what they said about our idol: As the vocalist and frequent songwriter of the band, Eraserheads' Ely Buendia has created witty lyrics and catchy melodies. Occasionally, Raymund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala and Marcus Adoro pitch in the songwriting. "Ligaya," "Pare Ko," "With a Smile," "Sem Break," "Magasin," "Overdrive,"and "Kailan" have transcended age and social class as students, kids,yuppies and ordinary folks mouth and relate to the unusual lyrics. Buendia deals with unusual themes in his compositions, "Huling El Bimbo," "Hey, Jay," "Kaliwete" and "Alapaap." Other composers included in the list are Nicanor Abelardo, Freddie Aguilar, George Canseco, APO Hiking Society, Joey Ayala, Ryan Cayabyab, Willy Cruz, Gary Granada, Mike Hanopol, Hotdogs and more. Those are big names in the music industry! Wow Ely, congratulations and we're so proud of you!

Raimund is Drummer of the Year!

Eraserheads drummer Raimund Marasigan takes home the Drummer of the Year award from the 1999 NU Rock Awards held last October 27. The Eraserheads was also nominated in a number of other categories this year but Raimund's the only one who's lucky enough to bag the award. And it's not just plain luck, i think he deserves it too. SIDE-PROJECT GALORE
In a small-talk with the most friendly and approachable member of the band way way back in mid 2000, i found out that each one of them is busy with their individual side projects. Raimund is full-time with Sandwich. His band released their first album Grip Stand Throw last August 1999 and their single Butterfly Carnival made waves everywhere! I heard they're also getting ready for their 2nd album. Marcus has his sideband Flaming Katols. Buddy jams with other bands and also co-produced (along with Raimund) Fatal Posporos' first album. Ely, on the other hand, has his solo album, wrote songs and produced an album for Rico J. Puno and also still does his Beatles Night jams at '70s Bistro. Fears of disbanding have disturbed lots of their fans around the globe but we don't have to worry. The Eraserheads is very much alive and is still together as a band. In fact, they are recording for a new album. In the meantime, let us just support their side projects. As what the ringmaster of the Eheads mailing list said, after 10 years of being together as a band, each one of them should be given a chance to explore their own individual talents separately.

Ely's solo album out now!
WANTED:BEDSPACER, Ely's solo album is now out. Go check out your nearest radio City outlets. It has 10 tracks for you to feast on. The carrier track "Wanted: Bedspacer" is enjoying the No.1 spot over at NU 107's midnight countdown. Do request for it in other stations too. hehe... He is also producing Rico J. Puno's upcoming album. Ely also recorded a song called "Suntok sa Buwan", which is included in the Original Soundtrack of "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw" starring Regine Velasquez and Robin Padilla. Check it out. It's a love song written by Danny Javier-- a cute and kilig one. :)

Electric Fan Club, the official Eraserheads Fan Club is now one year old! Will there be a celebration? Let's just wait and see... Happy 2nd Anniv Circus!
Circus, the very active Eraserheads Mailing list, just celebrated its second year anniversary last August 25. This was highlighted by a three-day chat event where members from all around the globe(naks!) met online and chatted with each other. Awards like "Circusfreak of the Year," "Newscaster of the Year," "Trendsetter of the Year," "Lurker of the Year," etc. were also given to deserving members.
