Confusing Poem

The Poem

"Once in a while you meet someone, and soon

you both discover the two of you are truly

something special to each other. . .

You share your thoughts and feelings so

relaxed, so openly, and right away you

know your friendship's truly meant to be."-----

Life isn't about keeping score.

It's not about how many friends you have

Or how accepted you are.

Not about if you have plans this weekend or if you're alone.

It isn't about who you're dating, who you used to date, how many

people

you've dated, or if you haven't been with anyone at all.

It isn't about who you have kissed,

It's not about sex.

It isn't about who your family is or how much money they have

Or what kind of car you drive.

Or where you are sent to school.

It's not about how beautiful or ugly you are.

Or what clothes you wear, what shoes you have on, or what kind of

music

you listen to.

It's not about if your hair is blonde, red, black, or brown

Or if your skin is too light or too dark.

Not about what grades you get, how smart you are, how smart

everybody

else thinks you are, or how smart standardized tests say you are.

It's not about what clubs you're in or how good you are at "your"

sport.

It's not about representing your whole being on a piece of paper

and

seeing who will "accept the written you."

LIFE JUST ISN'T.

But, life is about who you love and who you hurt.

It's about who you make happy or unhappy purposefully.

It's about keeping or betraying trust.

It's about friendship, used as a sanctity or a weapon.

It's about what you say and mean, maybe hurtful, maybe heartening.

About starting rumors and contributing to petty gossip.

It's about what judgments you pass and why. And who your judgments

are spread to.

It's about who you've ignored with full control and intention.

It's about jealousy, fear, ignorance, and revenge.

It's about carrying inner hate and love, letting it grow, and

spreading it.

But most of all, it's about using your life to touch or poison

other

people's hearts in such a way that could have never occurred alone.

Only you choose the way those hearts are affected, and those

choices are

what life's all about.

All these isn't (however) DO make you the person you are..either directly or indirectly.. "It's not about representing your whole being on a piece of paper and seeing who will "accept the written you." um..duh- if it isn't who will accept this 'other you' as much as it is "who will accept the (fucking) truth" "But, life is about who you love and who you hurt." Whatever..if you're always looking at the past (who you hurt) then consider you're future fucked up.."It's about who you make happy or unhappy purposefully." geez..whoever wrote this is never gonna get on with life...why dwell on the bad things in life...?? just go kill yourself..or write in a diary..oh, that's right-this person doesn't believe in that.nevermind "It's about keeping or betraying trust." yeah..well have you kept every secret in your life boyscout? "It's about friendship, used as a sanctity or a weapon." friends-haha..you picked em..SO THERE!"It's about what you say and mean, maybe hurtful, maybe heartening." I have advice for you- Don't take everything so seriously!I wonder if ya can take a joke..."About starting rumors and contributing to petty gossip."yeah that's a problem..but I think you forgot that your this line is supposed to have a good part in it.."It's about what judgments you pass and why." no..its more like what you feel and think.. "And who your judgments are spread to." if you're gonna pass judgment then you should be proud of it..not waiting to see if oh..Does Suzy agree w/it?? "It's about who you've ignored with full control and intention." yeah..that's kinda the point of ignoring someone..and maybe you have a good reason to.."It's about jealousy, fear, ignorance, and revenge." DEATHWISH!! Yeah..and look at all those starving kids in Africa!"It's about carrying inner hate and love, letting it grow, and spreading it." spreading it where? to other people? didn't you already try to make that point? and isn't that kinda personal? I mean if its inner hate who's gonna want to share that w/you? you'd just get pissed off.."But most of all, it's about using your life to touch or poison other people's hearts in such a way that could have never occurred alone." D-E-N-I-A-L..you can poison yourself just as easily..."Only you choose the way those hearts are affected, and those choices are what life's all about." oh..gee thanx for changing my life..and showing me how to be just like you! perfect! I must try to make friends with all the killers and perverts..and always be self-conscious about not hurting anyone..and I won't play sports or join clubs or have fun..or go shopping..JUST CUZ YOU SAID SO! NOT! this whole thing was such bullshit..why don't they talk more about not being racist or saving the planet..or peace instead of war..or how technology will kill us..or how to be better people and to be the best at whatever we do in life..is what life is about..not having sex with every guy in town so the other guys won't be hurt..SO I SAY TO THIS POEM..FUCK YOU!!!! Bye forever..and i never want another poem like that again...LJ

Hey you... I went back and I read that poem (I never did before coz I thought I was kinda stupid, but I hadn't looked at it the way you did...till now) I see what you're saying... what you said was true but ya know.. its kinda harsh on the writer of the poem... but whatever... I see that there's the good and the bad.. but human nature has created this negative thingy where is like all we think about... no ones perfect and that's the beauty of it... (not that I don't agree with you, I do.. confused with a bit o' it so I'm not sure that I agree with all of it, just coz I didn't understand it all, how it all related to the poem (that's coz I don't get the poem, I still look at it with questions, what's the point??).. but otherwise, what I understood was quite interesting)... perhaps you yourself shouldn't dwell upon what some idiot says... I doubt that you are, I figure that you just wanted to tell people what's on your mind and stuff.. so there's no worry.. but that was cool... I'm probably not making any sense, coz I just got confused..

so I saw that judgment thing and cuz he probably knows i hate him I thought Hmmm...he thinks that that isn't what life is about and that I should be nice to him and not want to kill him..and oh..isn't that sweet? too bad he hates me too..hypocrite..ginga lynn speaks her words o' wisdom...yup..I think what she says fits this kinda poem.. (refers to Ginger's response to "mail to the world" where she's telling me how hypocritical I was being...) HYPOCRITES! how can anyone not be greedy, not hate anyone, not FORGIVE anyone, not ignore anyone, and not be a hypocrite..that's a lot of bullshit..cuz everyone does it..whether they mean to or not they do...so I just think the whole thing was kinda based on an idealistic world where everybody loves everybody and where everybody is equal--which is kinda communist...but that's enough..of that..LJ
