This song is probably my favourite Alanis Morissette song to date. I think it's because I heard it and I agreed with EVERY word, not to mention it's a beautifully crafted song musically as well. It's a song about her thoughts on what/who God is and what he/she/it does. The song basically speaks for itself when you hear it. Alanis sings about how God looks upon us all and sees all the harm we inflict on eachother, ourselves, and the land, but still loves us unconditionally. Like I said, this song basically speaks for itself when you hear it, so I'll just write some of the lyrics.
"I see you averting your glances, I see you cheering on the war, I see you ignoring your children and I love you still."
"I am the harm that you inflict, I am your brilliance and frustration, I am the nuclear bombs if they were to hit..."
"I am your tragedy and your fortune, I am your crisis and delights, I am your prophets and your profits, I am your art..."
"I see you gunning them down, I see you silencing your sisters, and I love you still, and I love you still, I see you lie to your country, I see you forcing them out, I see you blaming eachother, and I love you still, and I love you still..."
