Warcraft II Strategies

Here are some strategies for War2

Single-Player Strategies

There are very few strategies for single player games. The easiest one is to place a squadron (about 6 grunts(footmen) or 4 knights(ogres)) and place them in front of the gold mine that is going to be the computer players next likely target. As soon as the computer starts sending peons to that gold mine, it'll continue to do so until it's used all of it's resources trying to send peons through the line! It works for almost every level(Tides of Darkness only).

I have no strategies for the Expansion Pack because I can't get very far, so all of my strategies are useless.

Multi-Player Strategies

Remember: More Peons, more gooder you are

The Grunt Rush: --- The cheapest way to win(banned in most cases). Resources first must have been set to high. Then, build a barracks BEFORE a town hall, and then build farms. Then make grunts and have them search the screen for the other hapless player. Once found, you can guess what to do.

The "Bird" Attack: --- Build a normal town without building up much defense(a few archers, maybe some towers, some footmen). The goal is to build a gryphon aviary or a dragon roost. Once one is built, build Dragons(or Gryphons) and more Roosts(As you can see, this one takes a lot of money). Once you've located the enemy, and have about 50 Dragons. Take them all(bloodlust and haste first, if Orcs) and fly them into the enemy town without a specified target. You'll take heavy losses, but chances are they won't be prepared for the arial attack.

The "Death and Decay" Attack: --- Build a normal town and build normal defences(axe throwers, some towers, ogres) and build many Temple of the Damned's, build Death Knights, and then research the following spells, haste and death and decay(or whirlwind). Take two Death Knights, Have one cast Haste on the other, and then have the hasted one cast death and decay on the enemy town, and run it back as soon as his magic is depleted(this works better if stationed close to the enemy). This can also work for humans (blizzard) but no haste, obviously.

The "Bombadier" Attack: --- Build a town with normal defenses until you reach a StrongHold. Then build as many Goblin Alchemists as you can. Have them continuously make Golin Sappers. Once you have about six Goblin Sappers, using the mini-map, have them all blow up the same target in the enemy's town(prefferable a barracks or somewhere where you can hit two things at once). Unless they've built a wall, most of your guys will get throught the defenses, and the chances are increased the more you use at one time.

Ambush-Sweep: --- Start out by getting together as many troops as you can within a reasonable amount of time. Up until the point of springing the trap, just fend off the enemy, give a little ground maybe, but don't let them know about the army you're building. however, don't dawdle, you'd want to spring the trap pretty quickly, say about as soon as you can get 20 or 30 troops together. This is how it works: lead a contingent of about six troops down the main approach to the enemy's main town. Meanwhile, tuck almost all the troops you can spare behind a natural geographic feature, like a copse of trees or something. using the six troops, stir up the enemy and try to get as many of them to follow you back down the path as possible. then, spring on them with the 30 or so troops. Don't stop there, sweep back towards their town and attack as fast and as furiosly as possible. Attack towers first, then barracks. that should do it, but if it doesn't, well, you did a lot of damage and at the minimum, you and your opponent are now equal.
BTW: this strat requires conditions to be right and will only work a couple of times. don't use this as your main strat or anything. Courtesy of
Bill.
