Geri Leaving Geri's shock spilt from the Spice Girls took place on Sunday, May 31, the eve of the beginning of the US tour. After four gruelling days of media madness with stories of fights and illnesses, it all came down to the statement, presented by Geri's lawyer, Julian Turton, This is a message to the fans. Sadly I would like to confirm that I have left the Spice Girls. This is because of the differences between us. I'm sure that the group will continue to be successful and I wish them all the best. I have no immediate plans. I wish to apologize to the fans and to thank them and everyone who's been there. Lots of love, Geri P.S I'll be back. Yes, Geri has been back since then, she has made two public appearances, one to open the 1998 breast cancer awareness week, the other to present at the Mtv music awards in Europe. Geri also auditioned for a role in the Aaron Spelling movie based on the TV classic Charlie's Angels. It is quite ironic because Geri dresses up as one of them in the movie, Spice World. Yet she was denied the part because people weren't likely to take her seriously. The reason that Geri left the Spice Girls is still unclear but the main belief is that Geri and Mel B were always fighting and trying to "take over".  A chauffeur stated, 'They both wanted to be leader. Mel B isn't just scary- she was cruel. Geri broke down under the abuse.' There was even a fist fight after a sell out concert. As for the rest of the girls it was off to the US for a sell-out tour. Many believe that Geri left in the nick of time before the band begins to fall apart. Traditionally, the first to leave the band has a better chance to become part of the industry again.
