SABRINA SALERNO SINGLE RELEASES: LIKE A YOYO |
Italian Like 'A Yoyo' 7" single French 'Like A Yoyo' 7" single |
Released as a single in Italy and France at the end of 1988, 'Like A Yoyo' was Sabrina's first collaboration with disco-legend Giorgio Moroder, who had written this cheerful song. For the single-release, the song (originally from the 'Super Sabrina'-album) was remixed by the English team of Stock/Aitken/Waterman for 7" and 12" use. SAW had been responsible for Sabrina's big success with 'All Of Me'. Strangely, Videogram only used the 12"-remix, while Carrere in France used both, but edited the 7"-version. Also, different picture-sleeves were prepared for the 7" and 12"-releases in Italy. To confuse things a bit, France (and the UK in 1989) used the Italian 12"-design on all formats. The UK-release bears the amusing catalogue-number 'DCUP1'. |
In Germany, 'Like A Yoyo' was only released as a single in 1989. While the commercial 7" and 12"-formats are identical to the 1988 Italian release, the German record-company Metronome released a unique edit of the SAW 7"-remix on a promo-only 7" single. Metronome also released a CD single of 'Like A Yoyo', which is quite rare. This CD contains the full 4:29-version of the SAW 7"-remix. |

Japanese 'Like A Yoyo' 3" CD single |
Seven Seas released 'Like A Yoyo' as a single in Japan in 1989. Both formats are very interesting: Commercially, the single was available on a 3" CD in a 'snap-pack', the format for CD single releases in Japan in the 80s and early 90s. This CD also contains the 4:39-'Extended Mix' of 'Funky Girl'. The 7"-single format was only used for promotional purposes in Japan by 1989, and as usually only around 100 copies were pressed of such singles, the promo-only 7"-single of 'Like A Yoyo', which came in a black-and-white picture-seeve, is very rare today. |
