I don't just
accept any old ad. My goal with the resource zine is to be sure that
all of the information and the ads I carry are of and for high quality
projects. I do this so that anyone making an order based on those
ads can be confident that s/he will receive a truly worthwhile artistic
project which meets the general expectations of what we consider an art
zine or lofi artist's book.
If you are not sure if your zine is an art zine/lofi book, go here. If you’re still not sure, feel free to write or email me with any questions you might have.
I would really prefer to see your work before accepting an ad. I am willing to do a trade with you, or to simply have you email me a description and/or scan of some of your work. Here are the types of things I am looking for:
Do something pretty.
I look for one or
more of the following: hand bindings, handmade paper, creative inserts,
linoleum or screen prints, photography, interesting packaging, etc.
As a rule, the more of the above you have, the better. Also, I look
for quality as in, non-messy work.
Can you write?
Just because your
book or zine looks like a dream doesn’t mean I will automatically accept
it. I will accept books or zines that are all art, meaning no writing,
as well.
I don't like staples.
I am personally
way into unique bindings, so the more of those you incorporate, the better
your chances.
Still not sure?
Here are some examples of rad zines which have found their way into the
catalog in the past.
TYGER VOYAGE #6: Heavenly little zine which was hand-bound, had a tiny envelope which opened to reveal a hand-written letter, some pages printed with a toy printing press, all in a cute little painted hinged box with a transparent window.
82 SKYLARK #1.5 (A girl’s guide to interior decorating): Color copies, cardboard and miscellaneous writings on decorating and moving from place to place, all in a gorgeous little zine which folded in no particular order, so you could read the zine however you liked.
DIAMONDS ON CREDIT #2: Small zine with hand-carved & printed linoleum prints in different colors, stamps, inserts, and dreamy writing.
Ad guidelines:

be pretty and reflect a little of your personal style. As always,
it is FREE to place an ad in this resource zine.
How to submit:
Send your zine (and
your ad, if you’re feeling confident) to me at the following address.
I probably know many of you, but if I don’t, or even if I do, I would appreciate
it if you would please enclose a note telling me why you are sending me
stuff and where you heard about texttrap. If you do not I reserve
the right to take extra long in replying.
