Differences between usa and european Iron Maiden reissues. First, an article describing the US reissues: ---------------------------cut here--------------------------- From: raz@MCS.COM (Anupam Razdan) Subject: Iron Maiden Re-issues - The *FACTS* (long) Keywords: iron maiden, reissues Newsgroups: alt.rock-n-roll.metal.ironmaiden,alt.rock-n-roll.hard,alt.rock-n-roll.metal,alt.rock-n-roll.metal.heavy,alt.rock-n-roll.metal.progressive Date: 28 Nov 1995 14:24:48 -0600 Organization: MCSNet Services Path: druuna.tky.hut.fi!nntp.hut.fi!news.funet.fi!news.eunet.fi!EU.net!howland.reston.ans.net!gatech!newsfeed.internetmci.com!chi-news.cic.net!nntp.coast.net!news.sprintlink.net!news.ahc.ameritech.com!ddsw1!news.mcs.net!not-for-mail Lines: 191 Message-ID: <49fr6g$djm@Mercury.mcs.com> NNTP-Posting-Host: mercury.mcs.com X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2 (KSD)] Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I bought all the Iron Maiden 2CD Castle Records reissues (except for LAD). I thought I would end all of the rumors and misinformation with this post. I have seen the albums for $10.95 (!!!) at a few stores. Quite a deal! BTW, I have *no* evidence that the cds are remastered. I don't think that they are. First, all the albums come with their original booklets and inserts. The only difference is that the "Castle Records" logo is visible instead of Capitol, and the copyright has been renewed to 1995. There is *no* loss of quality in the photographs, lyrics, etc. They look identical. This means, however, that IM and KILLERS still have two page booklets without lyrics. The spines of all the cds are black, with "IRON MAIDEN" and the album titles in red letters. The double cd cases are of the "slimline" variety. That is, they look like single jewel cases until you open them up. Then, the cd tray, which is hinged on the right, opens to the right to reveal the bonus discs. The only info for the bonus discs exists on a paper insert with artwork from the bonus disc on one side, and a track listing/single info on the other side. *NO* lyrics for the bonus tracks. In fact, except for the insert, it is impossible to know what bonus tracks are on what album. (When you buy it there will be a disposable paper sleeve over the jewel case that says "Iron Maiden ------ Limited Edition 2CD, -- minutes of music, First time available in the U.S." It then lists the songs on the bonus disc) BTW, the cds are quite difficult to remove from the spindles. Perhaps this will loosen in time. All the discs are picture discs. The quality of the art is *stunning*. No corners cut here. The bonus discs have the same picture as the bonus insert. BTW, someone asked why they have separate discs, as opposed to putting the bonus tracks on the albums. Well, for FotD, the combined album length would be 91 minutes. But, I think the general answer is that it is easier to continue to make album cds off the original glass master, and make new masters for the bonus discs. Okay, on to details for the individual releases. IRON MAIDEN, 1980 The album disc has a picture of Eddie with a bloody knife standing over Margaret Thatcher's dead body.
