PHOTOGRAPHY / FILMING
I have been taking pictures of live performances for around 6 years now and i have grown to be a better than average photographer id say. i am in no way a professional but i can work wonders with disposable cameras ;) if you would like a SMALL sample of some of the photography work ive done for a few bands check out this page i made.
I have also filmed quite a few shows in the past as well, i currently do not have any of my filming work uploaded to show a sample but it can be arranged. i usualy flim on a hi8 camcorder, although i can use anything you want if you provide the hardware for me to use. I have filmed performances (with permission) by bands such as nonpoint, darwins waiting room, reveillie, and more
WHAT I OFFER:
- 8 years of experience in band promotion
i have 8 years of experience in promoting up and coming music. i promote in many different ways. i will be doing a lot of the work in the internet and as much as i can in person. if the band purchases or commissions me to purchase promotional items like cds, stickers, posters, etc... i will use them to their maximum efficiency. ive been doing this for 8 years and i know where the better spots to hit are and where to stay away from. every band i work with will have their music featured on this verry website as soon as its set up more completely (im working on it everyday now, and i need a few bands before i can even officialy release the site) all bands i work with will also be featured on the myspace.com account i am saving for this company as well.
- 3 years of experience in band booking
i have a few contacts around the central ohio area and a few outside of the area as well. i am not hugely experienced in this aspect of promotion but i am picking up on it. i currently book for the alrosa villa and i also have minor contacts around the state that can assist me in getting shows in other venues as well.
- 6 years of experience in photographing and filming bands
i have been taking live pictures of bands for around 6 years now and ive gotten to be quite good at what i do. the better the equipment i have the more professional the pictures come out. most of what ive done i did with disposable cameras in venues that didnt allow digital cameras, when given permission i can use higher quality cameras to produce much better results. i have also filmed quite a few bands during live shows as well as performances and i even have software on my computer that allows me to edit together footage to create music videos or even full length movies and/or home videos if you need me to do so, and i can burn them straight to DVD.
- dedicated fan
i myself do not place myself ABOVE the crowd. if i work with the band, im not some businessman in the back with dollar bill signs in his eyes and such, if you put out a full length cd, i will BUY a copy to support the band, just like any fan would. if no guest list spots are available on shows, i have no problem with paying my way in. and i tend to bring a crowd to most shows i go to, i have a dedicated fanbase of my own of people who respect my oppinion on what bands to check out because i have a vast knowledge of whats out there. you also get a mosh pit instigator. im not one of those "manager types" who sit behind the stage. im in the pit thrashing around with everybody else provoking reaction from the crowd. (im also gaining light experience in throwing afterpartys for exceptional shows)
WHAT I REQUEST IN RETURN: forms of payment
this company is NON-PROFIT. that is i dont make a dime, if you dont have the funds to pay for promotion and managment and such, im your man. that is not to say, however, i wont be getting anything out of the partnership. i accept many forms of payment and most of them are optional. just pick and choose the ones that your band is most comfortable in working with and well go from there. i do have to mention however that while this IS a non-profit company, i tend to promote more enthustiacly those bands that meet more of the optional requirements than others. if im offered a show from a venue, im more likely to offer it first to the band who has gone out of their way to show me their appreciation than a band who is just in it for free promotion. so without further delay... here is what i request in return...
- Experience:
yes, you do nothing on this one. one of the things im looking for is just to gain more experience in all fields of the music industry, the more bands i work with the bigger my own musical resume becomes. this goes w/o saying.
- Collaboration:
i myself am trying to set up a "pigface" type musical project. no real set lineup, no commitments, no expectations. i just want to put together a cd full of songs where every song was co-written by a different person/band. The project is dubbed RE:JECTEd and i place no limits as to the genre of songs produced. (website currently located at myspace.com/reject)
- Logo / Name Placement:
the more places i get my name and/or logo in the music industry the better my resume becomes. being thanked in liner notes for cd releases, given photo credit on websites for pix ive taken at your shows, links back to R.S.M. from band sites, as well as placing my small logo on the back of cds you put out. (look at the back of any cd you own, there are usualy 2-5 small logos on the bottom in the back with copywright information. id like to include my own as much as possible) these are just a few examples of different ways i can get my name / logo in the industry and i would appreciate any help i could get.
- Rare Material:
Band records a song and decides they dont want to release it? i would probably still like to have it. Filming shows for nothing in particular? id like copys of the tapes. Purchased some promotional material? make sure you save me a few. You can take my word that i will not release and/or distribute anything given to me in this manor. I just enjoy being the guy who has more than the average fan.
- Money:
yes. i do accept money as a form of payment. however, i will not just pocket anything received. I will most likely throw it back into your band. Ill custom order a t-shirt and wear it around. Ill place an order for some promotional stickers. Ill print off posters promoting an upcoming show, Ill use the money to throw you an afterparty following a great performance, etc. etc. etc. I may sink some money into this company like getting a domain name, but that helps the bands as well since the more my site is viewed, the more your band is viewed.
- Performance Assistance:
this is probably the most important request to me. Keep in mind that it IS a request and is not a necessity as i understand sometimes its just not possible. Having said that, this is the #1 way to keep me enthustiac about promoting you above all else. I myself am addicted to the stage. Any way that you can assist me in getting on stage as much as possible would be much appreciated. Maybe i could join your band on stage for a song, or you could assist me in singing at CBRs wednesday nights on acoustic night, etc. there are many ways this can be acomplished and im ready for all of them.
If you feel that this is something you might be interested in pursuing, please feel free to contact me and we can work out a deal. Again, this is a no-contract partnership. No commitments, our business relationship can be terminated at any time for any reason without any legal hastle. The biggest reason i even created this company is for professional reasons. Its much easier to call a venue to book a show and say "Hello, my name is X, im from rejected soulz marketing, and i represent a band who is interested in playing in your establishment". Otherwise im just some fan calling a venue and they dont take me seriously.
thanks for your interest in REJECTEd SOULz MARKETINg
