Deadnight Warriors
UPDATE: The Deadnight Warriors have undergone some changes. The original roster has been modified by the addition of the warlock Malacan and a gang of three Ghouls, Eirich, Arvan and Siyeth. We also, with much regret, report the demise of Wilhelm the Dreg at the hands of a cultist of the Malefactors. Fear not though, he shall be avenged... Commiserations are also extended to Arak, who has now acquired two permanently damaging wounds and has also gone mad and been afflicted with Frenzy.
The award for Most Determined Warrior is hereby conferred upon "Stand Up" Sigmund the Zombie, in recognition of his ability to stay in a fight however many times he gets knocked down. Sigmund, Hans, Otto, Hermann and Ulf also receive a joint commendation for their spectacular last stand in the second battle of 31/5/02. I have never seen zombies fight so well in my life - well done lads.
In addition, a new house rule now allows Mage and Pagan to qualify as heroes (thereby allowing them to gain experience and advances) while any Dregs in the warband will henceforth count as henchmen.
Heroes
- Valdimir von Carstein, Vampire
Valdimir is the great-nephew of the legendary Count Vlad von Carstein, sent to Mordheim by his great-uncle in search of the shards of precious wyrdstone that grant power to any who hold them. Valdimir is young (by vampire standards anyway), arrogant and headstrong, but he is a good fighter and by no means stupid.
- Arak of the Horrible Hair, Necromancer
Arak is an eccentric if gifted individual, competent in the necromantic arts but usually making little use of his power due to his habit of becoming fascinated by comparatively small matters. He gained his nickname when he discovered that he was going bald and responded by casting his spells of Undeath on his own hair follicles. He now has a head of thick, luxuriant and oddly sinister hair which unfortunately grows through bright green. Initially Arak was somewhat mortified by this, but these days he is accustomed to it and strolls through the streets of Mordheim displaying his uncanny topknot with pride.
- Mage and Pagan, Valdimir's Wolf Children
Valdimir's longest-standing allies are his two dire wolves, Mage and Pagan, both of whom accompanied him from Sylvania when he first arrived in Mordheim. Dire wolves are Undead made from the reanimated corpses of the giant mountain wolves which roam Sylvania's forests, but contrary to popular belief they do not have to be black with glowing red eyes. In fact, Pagan is a simple brindled grey while Mage is a rare goldentip, his fur a shade of bright yellow-brown that shimmers in the light as if gilded. Both wolves are good fighters and savagely loyal to their master.
Henchmen
- Friedrich, Dreg
Friedrich is a resident of Mordheim who has been warped and broken by the evil energies permeating the city. Like most Dregs, he will serve any master who treats him with kindness. Dregs are very useful to vampire warleaders, as they can go into places where the Undead cannot, and so Valdimir takes care to be nice to his mortal hench - or rather, hunch - man.
- Arak's Zombies
Arak is unusual among necromancers in that he has a strong sentimental attachment to his various creations. As a result he has a very personalised pack of five zombie followers named Sigmund, Hans, Otto, Ulf and Hermann, some of whom have now been reanimated several times in succession due to Arak's unwillingness to part with them even when they have been put down in a fight.
- Ghouls
Ghouls are not technically undead, though you wouldn't know it to look at them. Eirich, Arvan and Siyeth are recent recruits to Valdimir's band, attracted by the desire for dead bodies to eat and companions who can tolerate their table manners.
- Malacan the Warlock, Hired Sword
A mysterious figure who sells his magical skills for gold. We know little about him as yet, but suspect that he may be destined for greatness...
Ex Members
- Wilhelm, Dreg
Wilhelm was struck down in battle by a cultist of the chaos-worshipping Malefactors and sadly died of his wounds the same night. We mourn his loss and have as a gesture of respect elected not to turn him into a zombie.
