Steps in Processing Information
- Data usually processed for two main reasons: 1. To add value to
the data so that better decisions can be made. 2. To support achievement of
organisational goals.
- Information generated by a system is usually used to specific problems
or information needs.
- The definition of Phases of Information Processing is the term used to define
a series of activities or phases that transform data into information. The
phases of information are:
- Data acquisition
- Input
- Data Validation
- Manipulation
- Storage
- Retrieval
- Output involves
- Communication
- Disposal
- Data is not only from inside the organisation, it can be
from outside. For example application forms, or through letter from the
customers. From the inside, it could be sales figures from the sales
department.. All of these can be classified to primary data. But secondary data
are refers to data that has already undergone some processing and has been
produced or interpreted by somebody else.
