WHAT IS D.B. PRODUCTIONS? |
--D.B. Productions was originally a full-on video company, established in 1993. In 1996 D.B. Productions added a music branch under the same name. The music branch is all here, on this website. --Both the original and music branches were founded by Daniel Brown, the current owner of D.B. Productions. --The music branch began in Philadelphia, in Daniel's room when he was 16 years old. He purchased one Diskman, and one mixer, and a little stereo system. He practiced DJing between the Diskman and stereo in his room almost every night. Daniel also worked with computers, and was able to make stickers, and tape sleeves for the music he was making. --At 17, he purchased a dual CD player where he mixed CD's for mixtapes, and for little parties he threw in the basement. --Dan realized the potential of his actions, and he began to work on his basement. By mid 1997, he had created an entire club in his basement. It had professional lights and sound, and the club even had a little "chill out room." --At 18, Dan was throwing frequent parties in his basement, which were highly successful. His favorate type of music became Jungle and Drum And Bass. He managed to gather a hefty D 'n B record collection, and he set out to DJ around clubs in Philadelphia. --He met up with MOUSE, his soon-to-be promoter. She gave him his DJ alias, "DJ Magnum DB," and got him a gig at her weekly D 'n B party at a club called Skyline almost every Tuesday night. --At 19 he established himself as a respectable DJ in Philadelphia. Such DJ's as J-Smooth, Michelle Sainte, Atlantiq, Diesleboy, and Nigel Richards had all become familiar friends to him. --Also, at age 19, Dan left for college in New York City, where he set up his new location for D.B. Productions. He also met up with some new buddies. --In New York City, Dan found his new crew. He walked by the room occupied by Mark Valkwitch, (aka "DJ Mark Kloud"). They soon became friends, and partners in D.B. Productions. --Dan Also met up with KC (aka MC KC), and Lyz, Pauline, Jodi (aka DJ Diva), and Mellissa. --In the building they lived in, Dan and Mark threw a Drum and Bass party on the top floor of the building called "S-Parties." These went on for a few weeks, before the guards allowed no more of them. --So Magnum DB and Mark Kloud set off to find some DJ gigs in the Big Apple. They were able to find a handfull of "open turntable events" to which they went, on a weekly basis, showing off their skills. --They GOT the DJing job at one of New York's most prominent Drum and Bass parties, "NYC United." --While here, Magnum DB, with the equipment he brought from home, and equpment he bought just for NYC, he's made a fabulous mixtape, "Pervert's Prevail," and Mark Kloud is in progress of his mixtape as well. --Magnum DB also decided to tell the world about the D.B. Productions company, and so he went online, to GeoCities, and did just that. --Now, this site is in it's 3rd year! Adding TONS of stuff. And the DJ's are bigger then ever. Mark Kloud is out of school, and back home in Buffalo throwing parties among parties. Magnum DB is spinning all over the NYC area, including The Wetlands, and The Knitting Factory. As well as The Rivertown Lounge, and The Oasis Bar. Check the DJ SCHEDUALS to see the next gigs! ...and the rest is history! |
