Hey look! An update. . . . .
Yes its been several months and yes I kept saying I was going to get to it. I'm still getting to it, but there hasn't been much tab to put up (Colin and Josh: I will get to you, promise) nor is there much to say more than June of '44 have a new album out June 8th called Alhamata (check the spelling on that) and I'm not particularly digging it so there. I will update as appropriate however and there will be many more updates during hte summer when I am not in school. . .so much.
email me with any questions or tab, should they arrise.
Oh, and should you find enjoyment from this page, I urge you to send your thanks to Joshua Borger, who not only surprised me with the idea, but gave this page its start with the tabs below. The infamous Ansigod, cruel dictator of that Sunny Day Real Estate and other popular pages, is also an original contributor, though his tabs might not be up until the new year.
Visit The Maritime Tunesmith Union for a nice slab of wry humor or the band's Southern Homepage.
June of '44, the Geetar, and You:
Hopefully, you the reader are not a jaded a person and don't mind that
I'm going to use the phrase "math rock." There I said it, nuthing
you can do. Whatever your terminology, Sean and Jeff play a technically
challenging style of guitar that is easy to play by yourself, but difficult
to jam out on with other people. You'll see what i mean the first
time you try to play "Does Your Heart Beat Slower" with three other people
(I'll get the bass line up eventually). What you are going to see
in these tabs is that one guitar plays meandering note fills (lots of down
picking) in one time while the other guitar might play chunky power chords
in another so you might just want to make a few adaptations while you are
playing the songs to make it easier on yourself. Other than that,
its pretty easy to follow along with the songs: nothing too difficult,
just a lot of changes. I think everything is pretty much in standard
or drop-d tuning (which Slint and Rodan used), but if you came up with
something else, just email
me.
