These are most of my good friends at the pre- Year 10 Formal party. L-R: Jo, Michael, Maya, Tommie, Ange, Heather, Peita, Pat, Sare, Phil, Claire, Chris, Joss, John-Paul, Nae, Elle, me and Dan. I guess the others are hiding somewhere. You can half see some of their heads!!
L-R: This is an equally old picture of some of my close female friends. L-R: Courtney, Elle Alison, Tamar, me, Claire and Ange.
Tamar is my best friend in Australia. We've been friends since 7th grade when we went to a mutual friend's party and just clicked. We've been through a lot together: severe depressions, regressions to childhood that were oh-so-fun, the year 10 formal. She's one of the most kind-hearted people I know and I love her and miss her heaps. I really hope uni life treats her as well as she deserves. She's the one on the right in the picture linked above. The other person is....
Elle is my other best friend in Australia. She's one of those people who can make you laugh at the drop of a hat and is consequently SO hard to stay mad at. This photo was taken at a scary costume party that Ange had. Elle actually hi-jacked my costume for this shot. I think she's just too cute for words! I was really psyched when she and Ange came to see me at Uni in the States towards the beginning of the school year. I love her and miss her terribly.
Speaking of being too cute for words, I don't think Sare could get any cuter if she tried! This was also taken at that acary costume party. Apparently clowns scare Sare, along with quite a few of my psychotic friends. Sare is one of the sweetest people I know. She gets confused really easily making her really fun to tease!! But seriously she has a great heart and I miss her heaps.
This photo was also taken at the scary costume party, tho I think Court was just looking for an excuse to dress like someone out of Buffy. I don't think she quite got the concept of the word "scary". Anyway, Court is another sweet person with a fabulously good nature. She had a bit of an obsession with becoming a Skater Chic with Tamar for a while there, but apart from that, she's always been heaps good and understanding to me and I miss her tons.
This was ALSO taken at the scary costume party. Nae is the one on the right, and she obviously doesn't get the concept of "scary" either coz she's dressed as someone from Buffy too. So my friends like really bad TV shows... I still love em!! Nae is, in a word, loud. Nothing she says is ever quiet and she gets really excited really easily. Due to that, she is unbelievably funny. She's one of my favourite friends coz she's the only one that's actually shorter than me!!
Peita, the one on the left of this photo dressed as a slut, is the cutest thing... in 10th grade, she was boy-crazy, but totally naive about sex. We delighted in teaching her what her parents have sheltered her from all her life. How times change... She's a sweetie who gets confused nearly as often as Sare. I miss both these fabulous people with all my heart.
OK I promise this is the last photo from the scary party. Ange is the one on the left, dressed as sort of a gothic witch-type thing. Ange is another friend who gets confused pretty easily, but at least she undersands the concept of "scary"! It was her party, so I guess she had to get it! Ange is a duck, according to Elle's dictionary. She's sweeter than a cinnamon bun.
Heather also got the concept of "scary", dressed as the headmistress of our school. Heather has had some tough times and she's a true pillar of strength for getting through it alive. I admire her greatly for that. She's always taken a lot of time to make sure I know how much she values our friendship, and I guess this is my way of returning that. Heather is a really sweet person and I'm sorry I only really got to know her halfway through 10th grade. I'm also sorry we haven't really been in touch since I left.
Louie got the concept of "scary" too, dressed as a prostitute. Of course she's able to pull that off really well, having the best body out of all of us! Louie is another person who can make you laugh at the drop of a hat. She's the most insane of all of us too, with a crewcut that, during the holidays, has I think been all the colors of the rainbow. She prides herself on having done Ange's hair for this party, too. I miss all these fabulous friends more than they'll ever know.
Joss is another friend that can make me laugh at the drop of a hat. She's always psychotically hyperactive and happy and I miss seeing her smiling face 24/7. She's been the source of many a laugh in Science class and many a personal joke... MOCK! See what I mean? Anyway, she's always been heaps good to me and I miss her heaps.
Claire has been a really good friend of mine since 5th grade, despite a rather large fallout in 7th grade. Claire is another person with whom i share numerous personal jokes, along with an entire language we created in 6th grade. She is always pretending that she's not confused as often as peita and Sare, but we all know the truth. It's so cute! I miss her heaps.
This Sare is another psychotic friend of mine. We've been friends since 6th grade despite a falling out in 7th grade, the same falling out I had with Claire. Sare is a sweetie, always making me laugh, and lately being a confidante over MSN messenger. I miss her tons.
Jo
Jo is a quiet, shy type who really shouldn't be because she's absolutely gorgeous. She's heaps nice if you ever get the chance to get to know her. Unfortunately I didn't REALLY get to know her until the last term of 10th grade. I miss her constantly smiling face and kind heart.
Laura
Yes, that's right.... another psychotic friend. This one's a pom though, so she has an excuse! She came to the school at the beginning of last year and immediately fit into our group. Obsessed with Austin Powers quotes, she soon realised it's a lot funnier when you say them yourself, or with a fellow psychopath called...
Gemma
Gemma joined the school pretty close to the end of third term and, like her fellow pom, immediately fit right in. She and Laura are like 2 peas in a pod. It's quite scary how alike they are really! If ever there were a pair of perfectly suited best friends, they're it. I miss them both so much, even Gemma's snorting laugh!
Daphne
Daphne is another one of those friends I've had since 7th grade. We used to sit together in math class and fight against being separated when we made too much noise. The teacher just didn't understand that we could work and talk at the same time! We sort of drifted apart when we were no longer in the same classes, and I regret that because she was one of the better friends I've had. I miss her heaps.
Marcelle is another friend I didn't really get to know until just before I left the country, at Big Day Out. I discovered she was a lot like me and was also really nice and not afraid to be herself. In this pic she's on the left and the guy in the middle is Courtney's boyfriend, Hassey, who is also really sweet, and the girl on the right is Courtney. Marcelle made me laugh quite a bit in the short time I knew her and I miss her.
So there you have it... a brief life story of some of my Aussie friends. I miss them all (obviously) but I'll be seeing them really soon!
