Okay, this isn't the most complete set of links in existence, but it includes the pages where I spend a lot of my time shopping for music and reading interesting materials. If you have a page you think I might like, just email me and I might just add the durned thing...
Daddy-O's This is a site that has some cool shirts for sale. I don't talk about it at all anywhere in my web page, but I am into clothes (especially vintage influenced ones). Daddy-O's has some cool lounge shirts, bowling shirts, and other retro types. I didn't think they were overly expensive either. I bought a bowling shirt that says Erivan on it (no surprise there).
The Kaisers Check out the web page for one of the best beat bands out there. Unfortunately, I've never seen them live, but all of their records are outstanding. If you can locate their stuff, go for it. I think GetHip has the American release rights.
Monster.com If you're looking for a job, this is a good place to check the listing and even make your resume available for businesses to look at. Can complain there!
A Modern World This web site rinow is dedicated to Pictures from the Fuzzfest which happened in Georgia. It has tons of great pics of the bands and the people from the 3 days of garage hell.
Six Foot Crow... This is one bizarre E-Zine. It's run by one of the guys who was in BlackTop. I don't know what he's doing musically now, but if this page is any indication, it'll be bizarre. Theres everything from an interesting slang dictionary to reviews and interviews.
One of the best Garage sights I have found in my Wanderings, Make Room!, is nothing short of amazing. With band interviews, reviews, and other info, I can't rave enough about this sucker. If you wonder about the complete music it takes to make a freak like me, it's in there. So go there, you glue sniffing, dirt slurper!!!
The Garage This web page is dedicated to garage music, the best stuff out there. It has links to everything from online Radio Stations, records labels, to band web pages. I have to say it's the most complete garage links page I've found...
Teen Scene/60 Second Swinger An E-Zine and hardcopy sucker. It's Run by Blair who I met through this page. You can get a copy of it sent to you snailmail or you can get it off of this ftp sight Take your pick. It's definitely a good read.
Estrus Independent Record Label...This is one of the best labels out there for the indie bands to get into. I would say that the specialty of this label would have to be trash rock (a very raw form of garage). They have other styles of music around there too. A few of the fairly well known bands are The Makers, Man or Astroman?, the Mono-Men, and many more. You can find out info on these bands and tour dates, ordering info, and other cool stuff there. In fact, that's where I got the little logo-man. How's that for service. Get with it people!
One of my Favorite bands, The Hi-Fives, are on one of my favorite labels, Lookout Records. On this page you can find out about a lot of cool bands out there, and even download samples from a lot of their albums. Now that's convenience! Even other great bands are on the label, of course...Squirtgun, Screeching Weasel, The Parasites (I guess they just picked 'em up), and more than I'd care to mention.
Bomp! Records. Bomp is a great mailorder record label. Not only do they have their own stuff, but they have a lot of records from other labels, some of which woull be fairly expensive because they're in other countries. I do orders from these guys and they're nice as well as efficient.
Dionysus Records This label has been around for around 13 years and they put out a lor of great garage records. Some of the bands on this label are the Diaboliks, the Satelliters, the Brood, and many more.
Midnight Records This mail order business has a great search engine for searching their catalogue. If you want it, you might be able to find it here.
The most well known underground band that MTV viewers haven't heard of 'cause they don't have a clue, Rocket From the Crypt, have their own web page now which includes histories, tattoos, discographies, and info on joining their fan club and other such nonsense. Go for it! These guys are great live, and I hear that they're absolutely huge in Britain now. Not to shabby for a little band from San Diego, huh?
Drag King 2000... I Don't think this band has an album out yet, but From the Real Audio on the page, I think they'll be worth the wait. Check out their cool page. I like it!
Blink-182... This San Diego band has become rather popular recently. I only have one of their 45's, but that doesn't mean I don't like 'em.
Buzzcocks... This is Pete Shelley's page that he has dedicated to the Buzzcocks. Name it, if you want to know it about the band, it may be on there.
The Damned... That band is still around, though not as punk (or whatever they were) as they were years ago.
Voodoo Glow Skulls... These guys I think are on LOOKOUT. They're pretty good, and they have an interesting page.
Zionks... I've heard some bad songs and some really good songs from this band.
Man or Astroman... These guys are gods of the surf scene. I missed them a week ago at the Casbah, but I might catch them online in Sept.
Sweet 75... The new Band for Krist Novoselic, the bassist from Nirvana. With help from Yva Las Vegas and their drummer, they are kicking some serious ass in a curious manner.
The Hi Fives... This is not an official page, but it's pretty informative. Hopefully, LOOKOUT will be doing an official page for them soon.
Even though Satan has bought them out, TSR, the makers of the Dungeons and Dragons RPG have their own web page now that includes all sorts of info on their company as well as new products and old products, and a cool fake Tabloid. One great thing they talk about on there is their new RPG they're planning on releasing, Alternity , which is a futuristic campaign not even close to anything I have seen before. It looks very promising, indeed. What are you waiting for, you schmoe!
Another cool Role Playing Game out there in the world is Vampire The Masquerade published by White-Wolf. They also publish other great games like Werewolf the Apocalypse, Wraith the Oblivion, Changling the Dreaming, Mage the Ascension, and maybe more, but I can't remember. They are all very dark, live action games as well. With the live action, no need for dice or anything, it's mostly character interaction. It's extremely fun!
One of the best things I like to do on occasion online, is send a prank email to someone. I'm not talkin' death threats or anything like that, just a little joke that gets me a new enemy. A good place to do that is at the Monty Python Page. There, they have games, as well as a little thing that sends emails with miscellaneous insults from the Monty Python movies and TV show. Go Torture Someone Already, Even if it's Yourself!
Mania This a great comic book mail order company that is a part of American Entertainment. I did mail order thru them for years when I was a serious collector. If there's a cool comic coming out, they'll find out first.
The Ringworld This is a complete directory of all the webrings out there (and there are a bunch) There is a search engine for them as well as subject listings. Way too many to count!
Honk if you love Justice! This is a web page dedicated to the Tick cartoon. If there is a sound you want from the cartoon, this page will have it for you.
