Lamentations
by Greg Jones
(Lamentations 3:1; 5:17; Daniel 5:25-28)
I - see affliction
By - the rod of his wrath
My eyes - are filled with tears
Their eyes - filled with fear
(bridge)
A crime scene unfolds, before our very eyes
A death wish whispered in the middle of the night.
The scene is empty and hearts are too
As the perpetrator runs, he's inside of me and you
(chorus)
Lamentations
the words leap off the pages they ring in my ears
Revelation
the prophecies unfolding they confirm my fears
(verse 2)
I see - men's hearts melting
Like wax - under the fire
My heart - is faint
And our eyes - have grown dim
(bridge)
The body count is high, all have fallen short
The toll of sin exacted, in a game of bloodsport.
As men have rejected, the God most high
They've broken and exchanged, the truth for a lie. (to chorus)
(Bridge 2)
The handwriting speaks from off the wall
To tell a tale of this kingdom's final bow
Surrendered to another, who's justice is everlasting.
His kingdom will reign forever more.
