To the English-speaking among you... |
This situation is a great disadvantage for me, trying to explain English lyrics. But it also has advantages: I notice things English-speaking people just don't see because they're too obvious.
English is the Internet language, but not everybody is fluent in it. British and Americans are used to seeing their language raped by foreigners. It is also part of the Netiquette not to correct spelling mistakes, because most people find it annoying and offensive. Many flame wars have started over a small language error.
But for this site, you can make an exception: please, correct me. It doesn't even have to be very polite (but it would be nice...).
And then there's another problem: British, American, Canadian, Australian, ... I try to write British English, because that's what I was taught at school and because Pink Floyd is British. It is also more elegant and stylish than American English. However, due to massive brainwashing by American soap series, some A.E. might slip in. I don't think this is such a problem, so you don't have to correct me on that. It would be nice, though.
