Eugene Brosnan (BROZ)

Picture taken from his Album, "Well he said he´d be here!"

Eugene Brosnan is a singer-songwriter based in West Cork, Ireland. He gained a reputation playing acoustic rock in pubs, and opening shows for major Irish and American acts such as Hothouse Flowers, Freddie White and Guy Clarke.

Touring Germany twice a year, showcasing in the US, and more recently playing the summer festivals in the Czech and Slovak Republics, has consolidatet his relationship with road and stage, seeking out songs, often topical, to suit his repertoire. His interpretation and delivery of songs from artists like Bruce Cockburn, Randy Newman and Greg Browne has been described as powerful and provocative.

In the not-too-distant past Eugene began to take his own writing more seriously and moved to the remote rural setting of Clonakilty, setting up a small private studio where he works when not keeping up with his demanding touring schedule.

Eugene's CD debut, Well he said he'd be here! was released last year on Rescue Records, an up-and-coming independent irish label. The album was described by critics as a "breath of fresh air on the Irish folk-rock scene". Eugene was supportet on the project by the legendary Roy Harper and his son, acoustic guitar virtuoso, Nick Harper, as well as Jerry Fehily - drummer with the Hothouse Flowers - Bill Shanley of the Mary Black Band, and Noel Barret, one of the most sought-after session bass players in Ireland. The album was engineered by Eugene's friend, London-based Neil Armor, whose credits include Queen, The Christians and Chris Rea.

A follow-up to Well he said he'd be here! is planned for the end of this year, and Eugene's summer touring schedule includes a return visit to the Czech and Slovak Republics, where he will play some summer festivals, and a first visit to Poland. A trip to the US is planned for August while September and October will see Eugene in Holland and Germany.
