Thanks for your site that concentrates on the "best" years of Genesis...the one's before Phil's pop hits personality took over. Although I do like many Genesis albums after Gabriel's departure, Wind & Wuthering and it's predecessors are the best in the ca alog by far.

Great site !!! I'm a Genesis/Gabriel fan too. In fact I'm a bit of a fan of all the progressive-rock music that is made between '70-'75. This music is real art to me. I have been a Genesis fan since the 7th grade (circa 1978). My tastes are similar to yours regarding the Gabriel years. I am especially a big fan of the gabriel years, as this band laid the groundwork for several of today's best improvisational bands. When you compare genesis to their brethren of the day, yes (more fantasy oriented and obtuse), elp (over the top save for arn evil 9, the 2nd best epic of them all behind supper's ready) and king crimson (not a big fave but exceptionaly cohesive on starless and bible black) you can see that in terms of cohesiveness, imagery, and poetry, this band is far better. Best song in my opinion is watcher of the skies, with a close second being supper. Favorite lines: "looking behind me the water turns icy blue, the lights are dimmed and once again the stage is set for you"It would be nice if genesis played a one-shot again but i sup ose that is not happening.
