In a pefect world,perhaps some of you people would get lives,"Hel" and perhaps get your facts straight...You seem to have neglected the main and only relevant factor here and that is that these people collectively (Stephanie,Paul Dempsey,Brendan Webb etc, have spent their lives making MUSIC and that is all that matters-not the gossip and heresay that you speak of.Stephanie was a co-founding member and songwriter of Sandpit and songwriter in SFK and without that creative input their may never have been a andpit. I tottally agree with the comment about a dempsey/webb line up. Does anyone know whether there is a By Ferry or Steamer site up? Sandpit always will be the best band ever. There is no band that has anywhere near the talent that these guys had.

Dont get me wrong "something for kate" are an amazing band live and on disc but i always feel there is just something missing as much as i love them i find it hard to listen to a whole album in one go.....in a perfect world Brendan(x-sandpit) and paul dem sey(SFK) would both share vocal roles with stephanie on bass and brendan & paul on guitars simliar in set up to seBADoh with both writing songs and both singing this would give (SFK) another edge and more variety but staying in the same vien ...and make t em a real force to be rekoned with, of course this will probally never happen but its nice to dream i guess. glad to see this site again. I too was sad to find out Sandpit was no more but what can you do. I am trying to get my hands on more stuff by them. I am getting "on second thought." Anyone that wants to trade tapes, let me know. I have acess to thousa ds of recordings by thousands of bands. I work at a college radio station in the U.S. Also, are there more sandpit pics. broken up/not broken up/whatever the future may hold (but I realise my naive optimism is most likely founded on nothing more than hope), Sanpit were a great band with a special and unique angle on the indie genre. Their presence will be sorely missed, and all be can do now is play the music, read the webpage, and sign the guestbook... so I wish all those involved in "the 'pit" every success in the future as I linger in the past.

I have only recently started to really get into Sandpit and it saddens me greatly to think that there will be no more releases or gigs. Sandpit were a great band and it is a huge hole that they leave in the Australian music scene. We were so blessed havin them play, now so empty after they've gone.

I had no idea this site existed, so to find it now is really a relief(at finding a site about something I love) and sadness(at not knowing and being involved sooner). Thanks for keeping a Sandpit site. It is the only way I have been able to find out about them. Our radio station received the Hunting Picture and put it in the giveaway bin. A true music lover knows that one mans trash is another mans treasure. This C is amazing. It makes me sick that no one here in the U.S. gets exposed to Australian music. Oh well. Anyway, I play it on my show called the Underexposed Show. I play all sorts of indie rock, pop, experimental, spoken word and film scores. If it is ot heard much, I play it. I saw SP late in 1997, supporting Pavement in Melbourne , great show. Liked them ever since. On second thought is an outstanding album. BIG fan of the band. A bit sad they broke up, but oh well, that's the way it goes, can't be too precious. I'm sure ther good things are still to come.

I saw Sandpit and S4K last week in Perth, I thought Sandpit were so great!!! The guitarist is forever changing his tunings which I found really interesting. I'd never seen them before but I liked them the best... now I have to buy all their CDs etc ($$$$ boohoo. Stephanie gives me even more inspiration with my bass playing :) :)
