Lyrics

The lyrics of Black Flowers are loosely based on a Donald Justice poem called "Bus Stop." As a song Black Flowers is an enigma because the initial scratch tracks were done to a completely different tune that we called the "Neil Young Song." I hated it, so I scrapped everything but the drum tracks and wrote a completely new song. I recently found that the chords are the same as "Keep on Rockin in the Free World." It's still the Neil Young song I guess.

Black Flowers

When the dust has settled down
from the last bus as it's leaving town
We stand here in our dirty clothes
and slowly make our way back home

In quiet rooms where lives go on
the lives we lead but do not own
stand in the rain when we are gone
and lives go on and lives go on

Chorus

Black Flowers
Black Flowers
through the fire I can see
the faces in my memory
and through the burning I can feel
embraces tearing enlessly

The time will come we take our turn
for some it bleeds for some it burns
faces cast into the light
but why is it so dark tonight

Chorus
