The Sound:
Goth. Okay, I'll elaborate. There is a mixture of sounds on the debute album, Athems. The first song sounds tribal, followed by four harder songs that have metally distorted guitars and keyboard mix. One even seems to be a little more industrial, perhaps. Throughout the very intercore of the album there are some very beautiful and quieter songs. I absolutely have fallen in love with "Oür Buckett" which is a wonderful and humble praise song. And to bring the album to a triumphant finish, the song "Omega" rings out in transilvania classic goth packed with delicious minors for your eirie listening pleasure.

The Message:
All I can say is I get enriched in the love of Christ when I hear this album. There is nothing but grace and mercy that pours out from Athems. I especially find the songs, "Oür Buckett", "No More Night", and "Bury the Dead" to be filled with the Holy Spirits comforting love and mercy. There has not been one time that I have heard "Bury the Dead" with out shedding at least one tear. I can't help it. Especially at the end when it says that Jesus is asking us to marry Him. Its such a beautiful moment to think of. I can hardly wait. I'd say this is a great album to focus on Christ and the Kingdom of Heaven.

The Band

My Rant on this Band:
I think I basically said it already, but I don't mind raving again. I love Wedding Party. I love them because they bring the attention to Christ, and because they are real. Their outreach is a very hard target. To those who know sorrow and pain, who dwell in darkness and see no light, these are the people Wedding Party has taken their wing to.

Rating and Recommendation: Okay buy Anthems. :) I give WP 4 **** stars for sound, basically because of production on it. I wish it could be a little crisper. Message wise I give a wopping 5 *****! Like goth? You'll like WP, unless you are Cynthia. I'm not letting her live this down. If you want to know why Cynthia doesn't like Wedding Party, you can e-mail her at edcindi@cts.com. (Highlight and copy addy).

The Sound:
Packed out death metal hardcore stretched to the max with unbelievable holy intensity. They've got the best male vocals I've ever heard, a perfect balance of raging screams from a deep gutty voice. That is the kind of vocal I have to have. Call me picky, but thats the way I am. As for tunes, double crunchy metally guitar action, and a double paddle base drum kick them up a notch or two or five. They sound dark, they sound intense, they sound addicting.

The Message:
I find the message absolutely soul quenching. These guys don't waste time with profound elaborate lyrics. The message is to the point. They seem to sing about internal warfare mostly, from what I can relate with. Its like hearing from another Christian what its like to deal with spiritual battles. Even the wording is beyond logic, totally spiritual.

My Rant on this band:
My favorite band of all time is Living Sacrifice. I can't get enough of them. Unfortunately I have never seen them live. I have a friend down in Oklahoma who has seen them a few times and I believe he's even played with them? K.nAsh? I hope I have that right. :)

The Band

My rating and recommendation:
Okay, I'm gonna admit that I am quite partial to this band, but only because they have earned every bit of it. I thank God for L.S. I give them five (count em) ***** stars and I say, if you love death metal, you must add L.S. to your library. Don't miss out.

SIXPENCE NONE THE RICHER

The Sound:
As if you havn't heard the honey sweet sounds of Leigh singing "Kiss Me" on nearly every radio station (and in movie previews). In case you havn't, Sixpence is that of another band. Celtic music filled with enriched sounds of violins, cello, yet still poppy and rocky enough to be up to date. Leigh's light weigth feminine voice carries the songs nicely. I find them incredibly intelligent musicly. Nothing is done in basics, everything is professionally perfect. Which I believe, is the reason they have finally hit the charts. They deserve that, but for me personally, deserve better. I don't regard anything on national charts to be the greatest. Sixpence, I believe, is bringing class back into music. Especially on the radio.

The Message:
Sixpence is definitely poetry in motion. I find the lyrics absolutely profound, poetic, cunning, and creative. The song, "We Have Forgotten" is one of my favorites as it speaks of our goals and dreams. The metaphores are exhillerating. If you are unsure as to whether Sixpence is a Christian band, they are. They just tend to be a little more poetic and subtle about their messages. "Love" is a great song about being refined and renewed by our Father, the Harvester who cuts away the old to let the new begin. Try em out, even you goths might like it. Its not that eirie but I find it to be fantastic for you poet lovers.

The Band

My Rant on this Band:
I have loved Sixpence for the past three years and finally got a wonderful opportunity to see them in Portland last year in May. Such a charming band in every way. Musicly, lyricly, performance wise, even the album covers are witty and beautiful. I find them addicting and pleasantly mellow. I also believe, as I said before, that they are helping the secular music scene out more. Its time for a great band to get up at the top. There are so many out their that just plain stink and I wonder why they are at the top. Oh well. That's mainstream for you.

Rating and Recommendation:
I give them 5 ***** stars all around. Talented in every way, I'm flat out impressed and I am eager to see how the band does from now on. I can't wait for more! Definitely buy them if you like talent. Don't let the charts turn you away.

THIS PAGE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION! SORRY FOR THE MESS!! COME BACK FOR UPDATES OFTEN!!

Payable on Death, better known as, P.O.D., is my absolute favorite live band. There are not many like them who can stir up my adrenaline like these guys. And I personally believe its cause how incredibly powerful the Holy Spirit is upon them as they play. Their best music is on their P.O.D. Live at Tom Fest c.d. because it gives you a better idea what they are really like. My favorite songs are the French Fry song (hehe..what??), Selah, Know Me, Abortion is Moida! (Murder)...

And then there's my buddy Jason Dunn and those other kewl San Diego hXc boyz! You gotta love them even if you don't like this music. Its their kick'n personalites and vigor for God! Witty and blunt and really good lyrics make you think twice about your walk with Christ, and make you want to re-prioritize your priorities. :) N.I.V has very uplifting hardcore, makes you just wanna head bang your brains out. hehe.. no I'm serious, I pop that puppy in the diskman, and my spirits get picked up quick. Jason has a new distro company out in San Diego. Its called Facedown Records, there is some good stuff so check out the website.

And then there is the unforgetable band, Saviour Machine. This is one of those bands that make you stop in your tracks and stare in amazment or just sheer terror.

There's nothing like the live version of these guys. Eric Clayton delivers a stunning theatrical performance as he sings with his unforgettable emotionally gothic saturated, almost haunting voice, and the guitars and keyboard belt an eirie dark melody. I highly recommend that you try listening to Legend I and II. Even my mom at least liked Legend I.

The other thing I'd like to point out with Saviour Machine is they focus on the end times prophecy. And if you do ever get the chance to see them live, DO IT!

Another personal favorite band of mine, Morella's Forest! This is a picture of me (i'm the chick in the blue shirt, brown hair) with them at the Portland show, last March.

The label, SOFA Records, is a music label that I have high regards for. SOFA stands for Serving Our Father Always, and their motto is "Music isn't life, Jesus is!" Isn't that just phat? Well, there are some bands I simply adore from this label. (IE: The Evicted, Pink D, One-21, Headnoise, & Speedy Delivery)

I love this band!! Screaming chick vocal hardcore with a little emo too. Their songs give total glory to our Rock and Redeemer, Jesus!
