MATTIE WALTON married Robert Peeler and their bodies are buried in Houston, Texas. They had no children.
MARY WALTON died at a very young age and no one but God knows where her body is buried.
LEONA WALTON married Wesley Temple. To that union were born several children and most of these live in or near Lufkin, Texas. Wesley and Leona are buried in the Antioch Cemetery Near Center, Texas.
OLIVER WALTON did not marry. He was a Baptist preacher. Oliver worked in a shipyard in Houston. He is buried in the Antioch Cemetery near Center, Texas.
PERVIS WALTON is next but his history will be included later.
KINARD HENRY WALTON lived in Ranger, Texas where he married. Both are deceased and are buried in Ranger, Texas. They had 1 boy named Martin. I do not know where Martin lives.
NOLAN WALTON married Odesa Walker. To this union was born John who lives in San Antonio, Texas. John is a high school band director. Nolan worked for the fire department on Randolph Field. Both he and Odesa are deceased and are buried near San Antonio.
MONTIE WALTON married Margaret Windham. He was an ordained Baptist preacher. To this union were born 2 boys, Bill and Sam. Bill works for the Texas Department of Highways and Sam works for an off-shore oil company. Montie is deceased and is buried in the Antioch Cemetery. Margaret lives in the Holiday Rest Home in Center, Texas.
PERVIS WALTON was born near Franklin, Texas December 30, 1902. The family moved to Shelby County when I was about 2 years old. I grew upon farms in various parts of the county. I started to school at Hurst Town, near Center. The wife of Dr. Hurst was my first teacher. I, along with some of the rest of the family, walked about 3 miles to the school. The next school I remember was Clever Creek followed by Henrietta where I quit school in the 7th grade.
I worked for my father (a good man) until I was about 19 years old. I left home and went to Broadus, Texas, where I worked for a man cutting trees to build a track for a logging train. I did not like the work, so I returned home to work for my father. After a year, I left again and worked for the Kirby Lumber Company at Bessamy, Texas for 5 years. After this I roamed around and wound up at San Antonio, where I met Verlee McPherson. We were married in 1931.
We joined Lakeview Baptist Church where I was ordained a Deacon. I spent about 18 years working for the Gideon Association. I started to work for the U.S. government at the Fort Sam Houston Depot. My job was moved to Fort Worth, Texas. Verlee began to work for the government before we left San Antonio. We bought a house in Burleson, Texas, just outside of Fort Worth.
July the 4th, 1936, was a great day in our lives because our little girl, Mary, was born into our family.
June 6, 1964 was the beginning of a new life for Verlee and me. On that date we both retired from government service and moved to Center, Texas. We built a house on a tract of land west of the town and lived there for a few years. It was a good place to live until Verlee became ill from Parkinson's disease. She passed away after spending 5 years in the Holidaya Rest Home. She is buried in the Oak Lawn Cemetery near Center, Texas.
In 1965, I was first called to pastor the Antioch Baptist Church. On December 12 of that same year I was ordained at Antioch Church. I pastored this church for about 5 years. Then I was called by the Woden Baptist Church outside of Nacogdoches, Texas. I had a great time for I loved to preach the Precious Word of God. I was alone at this time because Mary had moved with her husband, Charles, to Tulsa, Oklahoma.
About a year after Verlee died, I married Johnnie Whitton and moved in with her at her house at 317 Pecan Street, Center, Texas. We had about 15 years together when she suddenly died of a brain hemorrhage. Before Johnnie died, she deeded her house to her daughter, Evelyn. I am now living with her. I have a good home because Evelyn is so very good to me. I recently had another birthday, my 91st.
My daughter, Mary, married Charles Lucas in 1954, before we moved from San Antonio. They live in Tulsa, Oklahoma. To their union were born 2 boys and 4 girls: Charles Jr., David, Sharon, Dottie, Linda, and Paula.
Charles Jr., the eldest, lives in Wichita Falls, Texas and has recently married. He is going to the seminary preparing for Christian Service. David lives in Pennsylvania and has a home with his wife, Sharon. They have 7 children.
Sharon (Mary's daughter) lives someplace in Colorado. She has 2 boys.
Dottie, Linda, and Paula are all married and live with their families in Tulsa.

My part of this history was delayed until now because I know more about myself than I did of the rest of the family.
This family history was prepared by Pervis Walton, who is the only living member of the Family. January 7, 1994
