As the name states, this double album is a tribute to the band Cheap Trick. It contains 25 songs, and Danny plays in two songs along with his friend Richie Ranno. These are the songs and lineups:
In "On top of the world" (originally in the Cheap Trick album from 1979, "Heaven tonight"):
In "She's tight" (originally in the Cheap Trick album from 1982, "One on one"):Frank Dimino (vocals) (from Angel)
Richie Ranno (guitar)
Danny Peyronel (keyboards)
Hal B. Setzer (bass) (from Silent Witness)
Lance Hyland Stark (drums) (from Silent Witness)
Both are great versions, they are clearly among the best of the album.Rocco Fury (vocals) (from American Angel)
Eddie Ojeda (guitar) (from Twisted Sister)
Richie Ranno (guitar)
Danny Peyronel (keyboards)
Hal B. Setzer (bass) (from Silent Witness)
Lance Hyland Stark (drums) (from Silent Witness)
Other musicians and bands involved in this tribute are: Danny Vaughn (vocals, ex-Tyketto), Silent Witness, Arcara, Glen Burtnik (ex-Styx), Enuff Z Nuff, Gilby Clarke (ex-Guns n' Roses), Danny Stanton, and there is an unreleased song by Robin Zander (Cheap Trick singer), called 'I can't go on'.
Some of my favourite tracks in this tribute, apart from the songs with Danny are (just my 'umble opinion): 'Stiff competition' (by Silent Witness), 'Hello there / Clock strikes ten' (by Danny Vaughn), 'If you want my love' (by Sharon Middendorf, from the band Motorbaby), 'I want you to want me' (by Glen Burtnick; a strange rendition, but I finally love it), 'Voices' (by Passion Risk), ...
Apart from the songs he contributed when he was in the bands UFO, Banzai, Tarzen, etc., Danny has written other songs for other artists. I mention here the credits for albums where he wrote some songs, and doesn't appear as a musician.
Danny doesn't play in this album, but we can find
powerful performers, like the great Rick Derringer (guitar), Steve Buslowe
(bass), Max Weinberg (drums, from E. Street Band), and guesting Gary Rossington
and Dale Krantz (from Rossington Collins Band, now in the revamped Lynyrd
Skynyrd) on one song.
Sade
This sweet-voice vocalist recorded in her multi-platinum second album a song co-written by Danny, "Fear", although he's credited under 'special thanks'!!
