Midi Speaker for Windows

released 9/11/98

download it! (192 K)

It plays midi files through the pc-speaker and also through the sound card, of course, with an amazing user interface.

It can also play wave files synchronously with the midi file.

It outputs song lyrics, if they are in the file.

If you want to see the user interface, click here.

Just unzip and run, select output device, load a midi file and press play.

Hmm, that's all.

Oh, yes, how to play wave files...

Write a text file with this format:

162234 whi.wav
56640 bla.wav
86592 this.wav
63150 isip.wav
115340 where.wav
124600 artemis.wav

and name it with the same filename of the midi file and with the extension .suo , then place it in the same directory of the midi file, where there must be also the wave files.
For example if the midi file is called forest3.mid you must call the text file forest3.suo
It's simple, you don't have to modify the midi file!

the number before the wave file names is the value of the tick count, press the button "Show Tick" in Midiwin left-bottom window to show it while the midi file is playing.

Well, download the example "forest3.zip" (180 K) to see (and to hear my very black metal voice playing synchronously with the midi file of the song "The forest whispers my name" by Cradle of Filth)

Hmm, that's all.

Written in 1997-1998 as the project for the Phd course "Ingegneria del Software" (software engineering), well, I passed that exam with 25/30, because I got 18 in the theorical part of the exam...

So the project was evaluated well, I think.

For the pc-speaker interface I used the vbx soundz.vbx, see soundz.txt for details, thanks, Martin.
