So far in my life, I've seen Bush twice in concert. This is to tell you everything about the concerts I saw and what my opinion on them was.

On April 19, 1996 people from far and wide, but mainly from Wisconsin, came to the Mecca Arena in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to see Bush. Touring with No Doubt and the Goo Goo Dolls, this show was a complete sell out. The show started with No Doubt, whom played many of the songs off their CD, Tragic Kingdom, followed by the Goo Goo Dolls, whom basically played "Name", "Naked", and "Long Way Down".

My friend and I were overly excited to see our favorite band (at the time Bush was my favorite) as we bought the tickes at a TicketMaster location. We had the tickets about a week or so ahead of time, though they were general admissin (meaning first come, first serve.).

The concert started at 8pm on April 19th of 96'. We got there 6:30pm and the line to get in was already down and around the block. We got in well before it started though. Inside the Arena, they had everyone sit down till the concert started. (Just for note, there were seats, but only like 5 people sat in them. The seats were surrounding a huge open area, with the stage in front of the open area.)

As the lights dimmed and No Doubt stepped out from the shadows, all the crowd went wild. Mosh pits formed all over and many were thrown around as well. Though the sercurity guards did break up moshers, almost everyone did it anyway. Just A Girl sent the crowd into flames of excitement, since at that time it was their hit single.

After No Doubt finished their playing, the crowds emptied out into the halls for food and drinks in between the intermission. My friend and I hung around then got back in as the Goo Goo dolls were starting. They played only a few, unlike the band before them. We got out of that area and into the hallway for a bathroom break and to wait for the people to empty out after the Goo Goo Dolls were finished.

This happened and we went right in, not wasting any time so to get as close as possible to the stage. Bush came out after about 20 minutes late. Everyone were chanting Bush, Bush!, like we were casting a spell of some kind. The lights around us dimmed, and then again another and stepped out. Only this time that band was the ever-loved...BUSH!

They played just about their whole CD, Sixteen Stone. Gavin, wearing a cute blue and white striped t-shirt and faded blue jeans, was obviously high from something. He was crawling all over the speakers and jumping around like he didn't know we were there. It was really the sight of the whole concert, Bush was. But alas, it ended of course, though Bush hadn't played their hit single, Glycerine.

Despite the fact the concert was most likely suppose-ofly over, no one would leave. Instead the whole crowd continously and monotonously chanted Glycerine, Glycerine. (We seemed to be good at getting our way by chanting.) After about 5 minutes of this non-stop chant, Gavin appeared before us all again on stage alone. He played Glycerine like there was no tomorrow. (Probably the best sung song the whole night after Machinehead.)

Then it ended after he spoke. Though before he got to speak, a girl threw a shirt at him, which he looked at and threw into the crowd. We both left at around 12 midnight, to find it in a down-pour of rain.

I guess what Bush brought along with them besides great music and a well planned show was, the English weather.

On June 27, 1997 Bush yet brought another crowd of excited fans to Milwaukee. Only this time attracting them to The Marcus Amphitheater in Summerfest. Accompanied by the Souls and The Jesus Lizards, Bush again showed a terrific performance.

The show was to start at 7:30pm, though it started at 7:15pm with the Souls coming out. This time with a different friend, we arrived at a perfect time of the show just starting. The Souls played about 7 songs and took about 45 minutes. My opinion on the Souls is that the lead singer needs to get a better pitched voice and stop acting like she's cooler than she really is.

Speaking of boasting about the self, The Jesus Lizards's lead singer did it a lot. They came out about 15 minutes after the Souls did. They played a few more songs than the Souls, and I was just dying for them to get off the stage. I thought that if they lowered the sound of the drums and guitars that the music would be decent. It's not that I dislike the sound of pure rock, it's that: What's the use of writing lyrics if you can't hear the singer?

They also took about 45 minutes and I was very happy to see them go. We waited and waited, thinking it would be about 15 minutes. And then the lights went on again on stage and everyone now standing on their seats, we all thought it was Bush. Despite the crowd going wild, it was nothing. Just a trick. About 5 minutes after that, it happened once again, which didn't make anyone very happy.

But finally they came on. The crowd went wilder then you could ever imagine. Everyone almost jumped to their feet and onto their seats in union. Screens that made it easier for people who were in back turned on and mainly focused on Gavin...thank god.

This was the shows of shows! Even more so than that. Backgrounds were added and it made it even cooler than it already was. Bush started out by playing from their second CD, Razorblade Suitcase. But they still played from their first CD. Songs like, Alien, Monkey, X-Girlfriend, Machinehead, Glycerine, Little Things, Come Down and a couple others.

And yet again, it ended...so we thought. They left for a bit and came back to play Swallowed after the deafening chant of people all around of Shallowed!, and We want Bush!. They came out then said thank-you and played us Swallowed, then Little Things.

This concert was really brilliant and if you had missed it, you missed a once in a lifetime show. Well, my friend and I got out about 11:30pm and of course we went home.

In this 4 hour and 15 minute show, about 2 hours were of a extrememly high graded band, Bush. The show was well played and relevantly very very, did I mention very, well planned.

To compare these two shows, I will conclude by saying that they were both fantastic. But if you want to get specific, I believe if you compare the concerts in whole, the first one I've been to (No Doubt, Goo Goo Dolls, and BUSH) was better. And yet, if you break it down to Bush, the second one (BUSH, Souls, The Jesus Lizards)was more liked by me. But I still have to say, they were both breath-taking (especially Gavin) and if you ever hear that Bush is coming into town...you really I repeat, really need to get a ticket and go. And try to get up front... =þ!
