TAKE THAT - BEHIND THE HEADLINES!

Gary drowns! Mark goes loopy! Rob's a blob! Sometimes Take That don't half have a giggle over the toast and marmalade when they pick up their morning papers. FF's Andrew investigates...

The Papers

Gary nearly - gasp! - drowns in a terrifying boating accident. He was thrown from a dinghy into a freezing cold lake while the rest of the Take That boys looked on in horror.

Take That

A storm in a teacup! The boys thought it'd be a hoot to hire some boats in the paddling pool at a park. Big Gazza toppled off the boat into the shallow pool - much to his pals' amusement. Rob was laughing so much he nearly toppled in too!

Gary's about to do a runner and leave Take That to concentrate on writing songs for snoot rock types like his hero Elton John and George Michael.

Gary is well chuffed that people think he's a brilliant songwriter - but he's really busy working on Take That's third album at the moment and has no plans to leave the band. He did sing backing vocals on pal Elton John's Lion King soundtrack, but says he's far too happy being a member of Take That to even think about leaving the band. Hurrah!

Take That are so afraid of crazy fans that they've hired a 19-stone invisible (?!) minder. "The fans can't dodge him - because they can't see him!" said a source "close" to the band!

Oh please! Take That do have minders, but they're all visible! Still, the story was in the crazy Sunday Sport which said Elvis Presley was living on the moon! Cuckoo!

Jason chokes back the tears as he tells his shocked pals that he's quitting Britain's biggest band to become a painter and decorator.

Lorks! Our Jase did leave Take That - but he returned a few days later. That happened yonks ago, before Take That even had their first hit!

Take That are planning to quit Manchester to live in London. Gary says the move will give their parents peace and quiet from the fans.

TT love living in Manchester and plan to stay. Anyway, Gary's adding the finishing touches to his snootsville mansion. "I'd never leave it now," he chirps.

Mark has been dubbed "Saint Mark" after turning to religion. Before each concert, he drops to his knees for a prayer and has even converted the rest of the chaps to God!

FF didn't see anything remotely religious when we visited Take That on their tour - although Jason has got the band into meditation to relax them after a concert! Mark's mum, Mary, does a good enough job of keeping her young lad down-to-earth!

The band are about to star on American TV in Beverly Hills 90210 as a cute boy pop band who plays at the gang's end-of-year party. Yee-hah!

90210 has guest appearances by stars who record a toon for the show's soundtrack album. But the boys haven't been asked to do a song - yet!

Take That have been approached by lot of TV companies and offered their own loony show. Even US TV wants them!

A few telly companies are interested in signing the boys for a show, a bit like the one starring The Monkees (ask your mum!). But the boys are still waiting...

Rob's being groomed for film stardom and has even turned down a whopping million squids to star in a blockbuster movie.

A movie bigwig asked Robbie if he'd appear in a film, but he was too busy with the band.

Mark ended up in a Manchester hospital suffering from a nervous breakdown. A fan claimed the pressure had finally got to him.

When the story ran, Mark was touring in Japan, which is a bit of a wee walk from Manchester! The poor lad had said he was a bit pooped out, but, rest assured, he's in top shape!

A tubby Robbie has been put on a diet after piling on the pounds. The paper even called him Rob the Blob!

Take That

Rob did keep an eye on his belly so he could be in top shape for the recent tour. And did anyone see him falling behind in the TT dance routines? We don't think so!
