Still More Chord Progressions, & Whatever

Chord Progressions

In Lesson 3 and in Lesson 4 I showed you some chord progressions to play with the chords that you have been learning. Click on the icon below to go to the next set of chord progressions, now with the remaining Dominant 7th chords.

Whatever

At this point in my guitar lessons, I feel that the guitarist has a basic knowledge of the guitar and can pursue their lessons in whichever direction they want. If they want to continue manipulating chords, I start showing them Chord Voicings such as Suspended Chords, Major and Minor 7th's, 9 chords, etc. If they want to learn bar chords or power chords, I go in that direction. If they want to learn lead guitar techniques for soloing, I start them on that. Here are a few short exercises I collected and put together for soloing:

Here is an excellent source to learn how to do harmonics: I've also got the following topics in the question and answer part of my lessons page.

Many times my students just want to learn songs that they like. This is great because while they learn these songs, they learn many new techniques, chords etc., and if they play along with the CD or tape, they are learning how to play in time with a drummer.

Basically there are numerous directions that the guitarist can go from here. If you would like to know more, E-mail me and I'll get you going in the right direction!
