PLOT: A group of British actors and their stressed-out director (Irving Cook) stumble through a barrage of misplaced props and personal problems as they try to put on a play. A comic farce in three acts.
HISTORY: During my (failed) audition for CCC's annual Shakepeare play (this time being "As You Like It"), director Clare Reidy suggested that I would have a better chance of being cast in ELT's production of "Noises Off" (saying that it was "more your kind of show"). My chances were indeed better, as I did get a role in "Noises Off". Once again, ELT was providing me with opportunities (and roles) that my CCC theater group was no longer going to give me.
It became one of the most challenging and positive theater experiences I've ever had, thanks in part to a great cast and crew.
Being a farce, the show also required an intricate set with numerous doors and other entranceways.
My favorite highlight of the performances was the applause I got (during all four performances) when my character jumped up the set's stairs with his pants around his ankles.
Another interesting aspect of this show was that during the last two performances, after the cast took their bows, the crew members mentioned above (save for David and Heidi, who were up in the light booth) got to peek through the doorways of the set and get their own round of (well-deserved) applause.
