3T ~ Keeping it In The Family

Most Performers hire managers to guide their careers, but when TJ, Taryll and Taj Jackson of 3T needed a manager, they didn't even have to leave home-who better than their own father, Tito Jackson, a one-time member of the famous Jackson 5! "He's been through everything, so he knows what to expect, and what's good and not good for us," says TJ.

Not only has their father been exposed to all aspects of the music biz from his own singing days, but he's been there for his three sons from the moment they were born all the way to their current success with their debut album, 1995' Brotherhood, which features "Anything" and "Why." now that the boys are spending their summer vacation recording a second album to be released before Christmas, Taj feels there was never any other manager but their dear ol' dad. "He's always been our manager ever since we were little," Taj, tells BOP. "But he never pushed us into music. We would always go, 'Dad, show us this, show us that."

Taj feels that if there's one person 3T trusts with career matters, it's Dad. "He always looked out for us, and it's really hard because you can't trust that many people in the entertainment industry," Taj says cautiously. "We know that we can trust our dad."

Taryll explains to BOP that having a father who's a former singer is also helpful to 3T. Dad understands their hopes, dreams, fears and frustrations because he had the same ones when he was part of the Jackson %. "he's excited because it's like the same thing over for him," says Taryll. Except this time, the proud papa is in the manager's seat, and the boys wouldn't want it any other way. Says Taj: "He's the ultimate manager."
