I wish that the various machines and mechanical implements in my daily life had "hurry-up" buttons on them. I really get tired of waiting on these slow objects; it's taking up time that I could be wasting on more entertaining activities. I know that other people join me in this desire. For example, have you ever seen someone who is riding in an elevator push and push and push the button, even though it is already lit up, and the elevator is working as hard as it can? Or perhaps you've noticed a co-worker clicking and clicking and clicking their mouse button while an Internet page is loading? This proves that there is some sort of subconscious mechanism in our brains that makes us believe that we can actually affect the speed of non-conscious objects. Anyway, every birthday, I wish for "hurry-up" buttons. So far it hasn't worked. |
