None- can pierce this armor, this shelter that I wear. nothing warm can penetrate, it would be soon lost there. No one else can hurt me, or invade my solitude. the shield I bear is solid, no invasion can intrude. My eyes are always solemn, no laughter flees my lips. the night will never leave me, to Day's sweet fingertips. once- that I remember, I opened up myself. I laughed and smiled and trusted, with little pride to shelf. I let myself believe it, but a Fool I know I was. Betrayed- only as laughter can, destroy those fragile bonds. Cold it is now always, the Darkness fill the soul. there might have been another path, but now- we'll never know. |
