Port Lincoln band Chewy-Chop formed in mid May 1998 by Clint Ash: bass and vocals joined by Marcus Macksad on guitar plus vocals before reluctantly and unfortunately calling it a day Fri 13th Dec 2002

They started by concentrated on playing covers and writing originals to make up a diverse range of songs, before making their way to playing gigs with many different drummers throughout the years.

When playing live, listen out for
Chewy's 18 catchy originals. Their songs have been described as "A main course of rock, but with grooving side dishes of pop, reggae, punk, funk, jazz, blues, ska, hip hop/rap etc.
It makes an interesting mixture, we can play a solid groove for a while, but then throw in a spacey free flowing bridge and it makes the song more interesting to listen to.
I hope that none of our own songs sound like each other, and you don't need to have that distortion pedal on all the time
."

Chewy-Chop's highlights over the years include:
Winning the 1999 Pt Lincoln Battle of the Bands against four other West Coast outfits.  Judges commented: "You enjoy what you do and it shows. The music suits the band well. Good tight sound with no one in the band overplaying. Great set."

A 5 track CD demo of originals was recorded in 1999 and can be obtained by contacting the band.
Whit (
Spiderbait): "I liked the weirder stuff like "JIM and ELVIS" the most.  Good effort for live takes."
Sam (99 Reasons Why): "I really like tracks 3 and 5 they rule and sound like a cross between the Hard-Ons and Screeching Weasel (a massive compliment)"
Members of Powderfinger and Bodyjar also have it in their possession.  Probably unfortunately.

In 2000 the trio had organised and played various All Age Shows in Port Lincoln, till 2002. Best crowds ever!

Constantly playing in other Eyre Peninsula towns and Adelaide.

Supporting Adelaide and national bands such as
99 Reasons Why, Testeagles, Fishing With Henry,
Superheist and Lazaros Dog.

Recording a second demo 2002 locally and a professional un-released EP in Adelaide.
