Xander was bored. Incredibly bored. The book they had given him to
look through had at least 3 things wrong with it.
1. It was mind numbingly dull
2. It had one of those stupid titles that he couldn't pronounce
And 3. It didn't have anywhere near enough pictures
He tossed the book on the table and looked down at its hard, wooden surface.
"I wonder how many times I would have to hit my head on this to knock
myself unconscious." he thought.
He glared at the table and began psyching himself up like some disgraced
Japanese businessmen considering seppuku. Or was that hari kiri ?
Regardless, someone walked into the library that was almost as out of
place there as he was.
**Smiling, she entered the library to where Giles, Willow and Xander sat - "Tea for Giles and a jelly donut. Coffee for Xander and Willow and a latté for me..." She set the other donuts down on the bench and hopped up onto the counter, grasping her beverage lightly, "So, what are we doing?" **
He looked over at Giles with a very hurt expression on his face.
"How does he rate a jelly?"
He took the offered beverage and slowly began walking towards her.
"Coffee? Donuts? Someone's being uncharacteristically generous. And
chipper, I might add." He eyed her suspiciously.
"Something must be up."
In a mock syrupy tone he asked,
"Did somebody set a puppy on fire while she was out?"
Feeling rather smug, he took a quick gulp of his coffee. The incredible
searing pain that followed burnt away any feeling he had in his tongue.
He could only hope that the roof of his mouth was still intact.
With a herculean effort he managed to blurt out,
" Coffee hot. Hot coffee. Coffee... hot." before he set the offending
cup down and ran out of the library to the nearest water fountain.

LUCY HUDSON:SCHOOL
Lucy Hudson
Lucy stared out the bus window, watching as the town
slowly came into view. Sunnydale. Reaching into her
backpack on the seat beside her, she opened her
journal.
'Well, I am here. Almost. The Council told me that
Mr.Giles was going to be expecting me but I don't know
if I want to head right over to the school library to
find him. I want to feel like a normal teenager for
awhile, even if it is only for an hour or so. Maybe,
I'll look around, see what fun there is in this small
town.'
Looking out the window again, as the bus passed the
school, she could see the light on in what must be the
library. Turning back to her journal, she wrote on.
'Who am I kidding? I'll never be a normal girl. I'm
the slayer. I have a duty... To both the Council and
myself. Guess I'm heading for the library.'
Closing the journal, stowing it quickly in her
backpack, Lucy made her way to the front of the bus.
Getting off at the next stop, she made her way back
toward the school. She hoped that Mr.Giles was there.
Would be hard explaining to someone why a 16 year old
girl was at school this late at night.

DRUSILLA: LAIR
Drusilla
The young woman lay on the bed, limps sprawled gracefully across the blankets, hair forming a black halo around her head. Her eyes were closed, and her skin was white like a china dolls. The woman was perfectly still, and not a part of her body stirred. Not even her chest to rise and fall with breath. For this creature didn't need to breathe. She was a childe of the night, a princess of death and darkness. And her name was Drusilla.
As she woke, her eyes fluttered open first. Then her thin arms moved, streching slowly over her head. Her head lolled, and her dark eyes, darted over the room, taking it in, putting it to memory. This was a new place, it was, and Drusilla wasn't used to it yet. It didn't have the aura of death and destruction that her and her lover brought with them everywhere. They hadn't been her long enough. They hadn't feed here, hunted here long enough. But soon....soon they would make it theirs. Her Spike would make it so. For her. For Princess.
Drusilla rolled over slowly, and sat up. Her hands wandered across the bed until they found a doll, laying in the place where her Spike would have slept. "Miss Edith." She whispered. "My Spike has gone out and left me all alone." A finger traced the doll's face. Along the eyes, the nose, the mouth. "He promised to bring me back a lovely treat though." She cocked her head and smiled. "What do you think it will be? Hmmm? A child? A woman? A puppy for Princess to play with?" Drusilla lifted the doll to her ear. "Can Miss Edith tell Mummy what my Spike will bring his Princess home to play with?" Her eyes closed as she seemed to listen for a moment. Then she slowly nodded, eyes still closed. "Very well then. A surprise it shall be. Princess likes surprises. Bloody ones." Her eyes opened, imagination stirred by the delicious fantasy.
Delicatly, Drusilla lay herself down, Miss Edith in her arms, and started stroking the doll's hair, waiting for her Spike to return to her, bringing with him something hopefully yummy as well.
