animals within animals is a band of rumors. our roster, sound, & everything else is in a constant state of flux. because there is no telling who will contribute to a specific song or what they will be thinking (or even who will be in the band at the moment!), it would be impossible to accurately define us or maintain anything resembling "consistency". we are anti-consistency. we are side projects within side projects, legions within legions.

the music of our debut release yard ape encompasses a broad & clashing panorama of electronic styles. some songs are built around distorted danceable rhythms while others are arrythmic cacophony. some songs are a hybrid of noise & idm while another borders on ambient. some feature overwhelming cut-up vocal samples, others rely on live human vox, & still others are instrumental. some songs are dead serious, others deadpan humor.

this website attempts to bring this incoherence to your computer screen with its juxtapositions, non-sequiturs, & out-of-context imagery. the material here might not seem, on a conscious level, to have anything to do with anything else, even the economically important price of tea in china. it might not seem to make any linear sense whatsoever. do not be alarmed at this. we are an entire world inside your body.
