Some of you may have heard about the big "Destruction of Oz" festival that is taking place in Melbourne on the 22nd of August, while others may not have but here is the deal...

Mark from "Extreme Noise" magazine has booked a huge show with DORO, SODOM, CRYPTOPSY, MARDUK and Aussie supports VANISHING POINT and DESCEND. The gig costs about $80 (+BF) to get into and starts at 7pm and goes up until 2am in the morning. This will all be taking place at the Palace in Melbourne and due to licencing restrictions will be an 18+ affair. After extensively scouring the website for more information it seems that there will likely be a chance for signings the next night for those keen to stick around Melbourne for another day.

It also seems that if the Destruction of Oz festival all goes to plan it will become an ongoing event with work starting on the 2004 show and some big plans for bring out more international metal bands. Some names thrown around so far include Testament and Arch Enemy.

It will be an expensive trek for those making the pilgrimage but should prove more than worthwhile for those who can come up with the dollars. If you're wondering how to get down there and back there is talk amongst the Rock Apes about renting a big bus and shipping us all down in one go! Come to the bar to find out more. My recommendation would be to book a plane flight early as this will be about the same cost as getting a bus down, some companies are offerring flights as low as $80 (each way) for those who can book on line with a credit card. Alternatively, if you and your mates are organised, car-pooling never goes astray!
