REGGAES CANBERRA BAND GRAVEYARD

This page is dedicated to all of the canberra bands who have played the Rock Ape and at some point called it a day, as tends to happen in this transient scene of ours, thankfully most of the 'core' musicians are still around in current projects and still kickin' it to this day!

If you want your band featured here, email me, or if your band gets featured here and you don't want it to be also email me :)

Geoff rips it up!
DEHUMAN

Dehuman were known as one of the most technical bands to come out of canberra and along with PSYCHRIST raised the bar for technical death metal bands as far as speed, precision and timing went. Dehuman started life in the Boardroom and Zorro's scenes of the late 90's, heavily influenced by Slayer and as they became even more proficient at their instruments adopted a style that only death metal gods Suffocation could compare to. After the demise of these venues around 2000, Dehuman later planted themsevles at the Ape for some truely classic gigs. They managed to release one CD in 2000 and played a few gigs across Canberra and Sydney. At this point main songwriter Geoff is working on a solo project called Symphonic Chaos

THE BABY SHAKERS

These were one angry bunch of ladies! Think about L7 but a million times heavier and angrier and you have the Baby Shakers. The Shakers started gigging around the early days of the venue (mid-late 2000) and gained a very large following in a very short time, Carols hate filled vocals making the band stand out from a crowd anywhere. The Ladies released one demo tape which I managed to get my hands on, but not sure if it ever got released officially. Subsequent heavy gigging around all venues in Canberra followed and evenutually interstate gigs in Sydney. The Shakers then started work on a full length CD which, unfortunately never got released before singer Carol moved to Sydney and the girls disbanded shortly after that. Drummer Michelle has recently surfaced in another band called LOCUS who are showing a lot of potential.
