Biography: Ringo Starr
Richard Starkey was born in Liverpool on the 7th of July, 1940. His parents, Elsie and Richard Sr., separated when Ringo was three.
Ringo had many serious illnesses as a child. He was in and out of the hospital. Ringo helped form a band called "Eddie Clayton Skiffle". All of the Beatles were influenced by Skiffle as teenagers. Ringo later joined "Rory Storm and the Hurricanes".
John called Ringo and asked him to join the Beatles. The Beatles offered him more money than any other band, so he agreed to play with them. George Martin had decided that the Beatles former drummer, Pete Best, had to go. That's why Ringo was asked.
Ringo married Maureen Cox in February of 1965. Ringo and Maureen had three children. Zak, Jason, and Lee Parkin. Ringo and Maureen divorced in 1975. In April of 1981, he married Barbara Bach.
After the Beatle break-up, Ringo had a successful solo career and has appeared in movies and television shows.
