My 311 Collection

CDs
I've been into 311 since around '94-'95. I, unlike many, can admit that I didn't know who they were before the self titled album. BUT, I didn't get to know them just from "Down", played on MTV or the radio. My friend's sister went to school down in Missouri, where she met some friends who were addicted to 311. She came back, and bought the self-titled and showed us what we were missing out on for years. I went out 2 days later and bought the blue album (this is all before "down" ever came out). A week later.... Music came, another week, Grassroots. And, of course, I bought Transistor the day it came out. As of now, I don't own any of the Ohmaha Albums, but I am desperately trying to find them. I downloaded about 5 MP3's off Unity!, and I have a CD writer, but they're still on hold to be burnt. Along the way, I found "Down in L.A." at a used CD store, in Royal Oak, MI, I got it for only 8.99!! I bought Soundsystem at Tower on midnight of the day of it's release, just like all you other loyal 311 fans! Recently, I found "Live 311," a show from Louisianna, for $8 which is pretty kickin'. Also, along the years, I bought the "Hempilation" compilation, as well as the "Senior Trip" soundtrack. If you want "Down in L.A." or "Live 311," and it's worth something in a trade, e-Mail me about it. I am also interested in trading ANYTHING with you - any band, any rap group, whatever you have. I have a CD Burner and I am willing to do business... It's bonding I tell ya! E-mail me, please, and we can hook it up.
Other 311 Stuff
Right now, I own 3- 311 T-shirts. The blue tour shirt, the classic Blue album cover T, and a white one with the logo, as well. If you want to order 311 stuff, you can from the online store at 311music. I haven't bought any from there, cuz there are tons of stores in the Detroit area that sell 'em. I also have the classic 311 logo patch, and 3 bumber stickers.
311 Live
I went to my first 311 show on August 14th, at Pine Knob Ampitheater, in Clarkston, MI. They opened with Hive... the lights went out, and there was just a huge rush to the front. We ended up way farther up than we were supposed to be, but it STILL wasn't close enough.
My second time seeing 311 came this past November, at St. Andrew's Hall in Detroit (a GREAT place to see a show). They didn't play much from Soundsystem, just as I hoped, and played a mix of all 5 albums - it was better than my first show because there was a PIT!!! (I do go to LOTS of shows). I plan to be at their next show at Pine Knob, once again, here in Detroit, on June 8th.
They close every show with "Fuck the Bullshit" and it just leaves you totally stoked (not to mention baked with all the pot flowin' around). It sucks that that's the only time I've ever heard of them comming to Detroit, but I'll be at the next one. If you haven't been to a 311 show, I can't say you've truely experienced thier music in total... it's just the best.
My Opinion
I'd have to say my favorite 311 album would be "Music." I don't think there's been a time where I've skipped a song on there, every song is just... the shit... My favorite song would have to be either "Freak Out" or "Fuck the Bullshit."
