THE BAND

STEVEN TYLER: Lead vocals, keyboards, harmonica...as you all might know, he's a nymphomaniac...

JOE PERRY: Guitars, backing vocals
BRAD WHITFORD: Guitars
TOM HAMILTON: Electric Bass
JOEY KRAMER: Drums, percussion

In 1964, Steven Tyler forms his first band, called "The Strangeurs", in which he was the drummer. Later, Tyler would change the name to "Chain Reaction". Then, in 1966, Tyler and the band go to the studio for the first time and record two singles. In 1969, appears AEROSMITH.

The band plays in schools and universities, such as Boston University. In 1971, the guitarist Ray Tabano leaves the band and is replaced by Brad Whitford, the current guitarist. At this moment, the band is stealing food to survive. Then, in 1973, they record their first album, AEROSMITH. They start a tour to promote the new album, which sells really fast. I the same year, DREAM ON is released as a simgle and get #1 song of the year in Boston. It's the beggining of the success.

In 1975-76, a lot of albums and songs become a success: "Toys in the attic" is just an example. "Sweet Emotion", which is in the Armageddon sound track, was recorded at this moment, just like "Walk this way". The press overage begins to blosson. Tyler appears in the cover of "The Boston Phoenix". They begin recording their fourth album, ROCKS, which goes platinum.

In 1977, they start a tour in Japan and record their fifth album, DRAW THE LINE, which goes platinum faster than any other Aerosmith album. In 88, Aerosmith appears in a movie, as "Future Villain Band". In 79, the band starsts to work on their seventh album, NIGHT IN THE RUTS. Joe Perry leaves Aerosmith and is replaced by Jimmy Crespo.

Then, in 1980, Aerosmith releases GREATEST HITS before Brad Whitford leaves the band and is replaced by Rick Dufait. In 81, Tyler spends much of the year recovering from a motorcycle accident.

In 82, ROCK IN A HARD PLACE is released, without Perry and Whitford. In 84, however, Perry and Whitford go back to Aerosmith. Then, in 85, they record DONE WITH MIRRORS. In 87, PERMANENT VACATION is released and goes platinum. In 88, they win their first MTV Music Award with "Dude Looks Like a Lady" (Best group video and best stage performance in a video). In 89, comes PUMP.

In 1990, Aerosmith recieves another MTV award, this time Best Metal/Hard Rock Video and Viewers Choice Award, with "Janie's got a gun", the same song which would give them a Grammy in 91. In the same year, they release PANDORA'S BOX, a 3 CD box set, appear in "The Simpsons" and win another MTV award with "The other side".

In 1993, GET A GRIP is released, selling 5000000 copies. In the same year, they win another MTV award, with "Living in the edge", the song which would give them another Grammy. Later on, they release BIG ONES, a CD with the best songs from PUMP, PERMANENT VACATION and GET A GRIP.

In 1994, they win 4 MTV awards with "Cryin'". In this year, they win their own video arcade game, Revolution X. In 95, they win their third Grammy with "Crazy".

In 1997, NINE LIVES is released and their official homepage is created. Then, "Falling in love is so hard on the knees" gives them another MTV award.

In this year, 1998, all shows had to be re-scheduled, because Tyler hurt his knee and Kramer got 2nd degree burns. They recorded "I don't want to miss a thing", for "Armageddon". It was a great success. Another songs played by Aerosmith are in the Armageddon sound track, like "Sweet emotion" and "Come Together". Their newest CD is called "A little south of sanity" and groups the best songs ever. In my opinion, it's their best CD.
Now, just a curiosity: Aerosmith, like other rock stars, got involved with drugs. The success disappeared quickly. Fortunately, they decided to get rid of drugs and were able to make it. The success came back and they became even more famous than they were before the drugs. Why? Nobody knows. I just hope it doesn't encourage the use of drugs.
