Backstreet Boys. Who in the world doesn't know about them? They're plastered on every magazine existed in the world, played on every radion station you know and are on TV almost everyday.So, it's an understatement to say that they aren't the most world famous group. They are bigger than New Kids and N'Sync, no matter what N'Sync fans everywhere say. People know who the BSB are better than they know N'Sync. Ask and you'll see.
I became a fan way back in late 1996 when a radio DJ announced that they were coming to Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur to be exact while I live across the sea in Sarawak). The DJ played "I'll Never Break Your Heart" and I turned to mush. I was a bit afraid that they were gonna be the next Take That or New Kids (See, I was a former New Kids fan). I wasn't disappointed. They were neither.
They sing live, they've got great voices, and as a added bonus, they are pretty eye candy, too. I bought their album and have been hooked ever since. I was obssesive back then, you know, teenybopper behaviour. Buying every magazine that has them on it, no matter how much they cost. I've mellowed since then. I still love them and think they're great. They are not old or faded as some would say. I think people say that because they wanted to see new, fresh pretty faces or they're really dumb to follow trends or what their peers say.
I know that N'Sync is gaining more popularity these days. Sometimes I wonder, for their songs or for their looks. Lookwise, they are kind of washed out copmpared to BSB. The only decent looker is JC, save for the nose, better lose it. Hehe. When I dissed N'Sync, my brother who's a fan *the horrors!* defends them, saying they're not bad. Not bad?! They are the kings of carbon copies! Sad fact is, they and BSB were by the same person, Lou "I'm-so-hot-I-gotta-be-the-sixth-member-of-whatever-band-I've-created-and-Moneybags" Pearlman. Both groups are alike in ways that cannot be missed. For me, Backstreet's the original and are still wa-ay better. If N'Sync wants to break records or be like BSB, lose the teenybopper image and fixed Justin's hair and voice. I never knew his voice was so screechy until my brother played the album.
Off the topic, I know. *smiles* But I feel so much better. *I feel better, so much better* If you've read my stories, you'd know who my fave BSB is. Precious is, well, precious. He has a very sweet smile. I know he's obnoxious at times and people have called him fat, but what everyday guy isn't obnoxious? And as for fat, look at yourself before calling people fat. No one's perfect. Crushing his self-esteem doesn't make you a better person, that means you only love them for their image.
I've been a BSB fan for so long now, and I still am. I'll buy their albums as long as they keep churning out music for us. I don't know how you define a "true fan" is but I know one thing, for me, it means suporting them in what they do, no matter if they're married or they have girlfriends or even having people calling them "old". That's what being a fan is, not beinf some fickle minded person who changed fan base faster than lgihtning. Backstreet fans, keep the pride alive.
